The Spring Ticking Bomb in Lyme Country

With warm season arriving early this year, this is a going to be a bumper year for Tick Borne diseases. Ticks can wait for months, clinging to the edge of a blade of grass or a bush, for the whiff of an animal's breath or vibration telling them a host is approaching.
Preventing Lyme's disease is the best policy. Here are some tips:
1. Wear long sleeved shirts, a cap and pants when out in the woods.
2. Do tick inspections of yourself and your pets at the end of your walk through woods.
3. Shower as soon as you get home. Bathing will often wash away ticks.

Eat Chocolate to Lose Weight!

Zanjabee practitioners often recommend an ounce of chocolate as a snack to our patients. Choose the best chocolate that you can afford. Dark chocolate is better than milk or white. Research now shows that eating a small amount of chocolate five days a week is linked to a lower weight, even if the person ate more calories overall and didn't exercise more than other participants.

Before you rush out to buy an extra scoop of chocolate fudge swirl, researchers caution that the health benefits of chocolate may be linked to how many times in a given week chocolate is eaten rather than the total amount consumed in that week. To learn more, click here.

HEALING BY STORY TELLING EVENT IS TOMORROW AT 6PM

So much of human illness, both mental and physical is related to the stories we tell ourselves about our own lives. People can heal by retelling their stories. Zanjabee is starting a monthly story telling hour where patients and their friends/family can get together to share a story from their lives that was ground breaking, a watershed experience or just plain funny.
