Tracy Pointer, President & Founder

In this issue of Women on the GROW (WOG), we spotlight GROW Member Tempest Utley. I've personally thanked Tempest several times for her suggestion that we provide Lunch & Learn lessons. As an avid networker, connected to various organizations and industries, Tempest mentioned that lessons during lunch hour may compliment our program offerings and they certainly have.

We've organized Lunch & Learn lessons during the past two years and will do so again this year. The Lunch & Learn series is $199 and includes 4 clinics, followed by lunch. FYI, the best approach to learning golf is backwards (from putting to driving). Therefore the session schedule for each round of L&L is..

1. Intro to golf & putting
2. Chipping
3. Half Swing
4. Full Swing

For those participants who are not beginners or do not need a full 4-course lesson, I am finalizing plans for specialized clinics i.e. for Drive (full swing), Putting, & Chipping.

The website is being updated and should be complete very soon. If you are interested particularly in the Lunch & Learn series, please send an email to tracy@growtoday.org.

Written by Shermaine Nettles, GROW Intern

Tempest Utley was looking for a way to reestablish herself into the Nashville community after living in California for 12 years, when she met Tracy Pointer and learned about GROW and the benefits of learning the game of golf and networking. Tempest became a member of GROW 2 years ago; she began golfing and meeting new people. Golfing allows her to spend quality time with the new people that she meets. Tempest is a sales manager for Gaylord Opryland she also enjoys the game of softball. She plays softball on the team, Women of Faith. Before each practice, the team has a bible study lesson and prayer. She is the president of the non-profit organization The Arts for Heavenly Angels Inc. The Arts for Heavenly Angels Inc. exposes inner city youth to the arts. Tempest is also on the board of CABLE, Tennessee’s largest and most established network of diverse professionals committed to connecting women and opportunity. She believes that GROW is a great place for women to grow their golf game and grow their business through playing the game of golf and networking.
