Peace and Love
by Sue Stack
The hippies were onto something (ok, maybe they were "on" something, too). Peace and love go together; one doesn't seem to be able to happen without the other.
Peace is what I feel when I visit Seabiscuit, Andy, and the other HSSF horses at The Farm. Peace, quiet happiness, and the total absence of fear, the feeling of playfulness instead of anxiety, the cessation of pain, well-being instead of hunger...something that feels like a big cloud of love.
The animals rescued by the Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills are sending a message of love to you, the people who reached out and snatched them out of danger.
Sure, high heels and candlelit dinners are fine for humans on Valentines Day but for Mariah the horse a deep sigh of contentment and taking a nap in the sun says to me that she is feeling at peace and surrounded by love.
To see Kendra and Molly share a clump of hay and stand resting close to each other says to me that they are living in the moment and enjoying the world together.
May this message from them last longer than any box of chocolates, may it go straight into your heart and give you that same feeling.
Happy, Happy Valentines Day.
