Hi there! This week, I was impressed by this 14 year old, particularly her piano improv at the end (16:25). And while I don't care for the beer, I do like the ad. And who knew a budget could be so poetic?

Enjoy!

1. Facebook hashtags? Meh.

This study is an interesting read. The bottom line? Don't feel bad if you forget to add hashtags to your posts on Facebook. They don't make a difference. (In fact, they might even hurt.)

2. 31 Days in October

This will be the 5th year Myquillyn (a.k.a. The Nester from NestingPlace.com) will hold her very popular 31 Days in October link up. If you're looking for some extra traffic or to get involved in the online blogging community, check it out.

3. How to make your own icons

If you want to do some of your own designing, check out this super simple icon generator. Click on any icon to customize. Hint: social media logos (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) are located under Brand Identity.

4. How to deal with procrastination

I recommend this Tim Ferris video with hesitation because there's some language in it. However, I did appreciate it (a) because it was nice to know Tim deals with procrastination and (b) because what he has to say is useful.

5. Why you might consider putting ads in your ebook(s)

This isn't the first time I've heard the idea to put ads in ebooks (Sarah Mae's How to Market and Sell Your Ebook comes to mind, albeit in a slightly different way), but I do think this post provides good food for thought. If you're an ebook author selling on Amazon, I'm not sure how you would do this and comply with their TOS, but you might consider it if you sell your ebooks in PDF.

6. How to get ideas for your next product (or post)

I like Derek Halpern's strategy to figure out what his readers want...and therefore, what he could sell.
