Dear University Community,

As promised last month, I have received the plan from Vice President Christina Valentino and Director of Public Safety Stephen Baker that outlines the process we will use to transition to an armed campus police force.

The comprehensive implementation plan reflects leading standards in law enforcement to ensure that all appropriate safeguards, training and supervision are in place before the URI police force is authorized to carry firearms.
