Momentum is growing
Recent alumni events are getting good feedback from alumni. Recent changes have been made in the quality of location and food. Programs have included a variety of participants, including President Maurer and/or faculty and students.
On December 4th an alumni event was held in Littleton, Colo., at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. A total of 57 people attended the event of which 36 were alumni. The event included a superb catered supper, live Christmas music performed by two ensembles from the Sterling College Choir, lively conversation and even a visit from “Santa Clause”. The evening concluded with a Tour of Lights presented by the Botanic Gardens.
Carol (Ford ’70) Bingle who was in Denver visiting family, attended the event. She said, “What a wonderful evening! It was so much fun to reconnect with college friends and to be a part of such an enjoyable gathering!”
Josh ’07 and Lauren (Shores ’05) Calkins expressed their enthusiasm in attending the Denver area alumni event. “What a fun event! Great food, great entertainment, exciting news from the College and getting to reconnect with some wonderful people; we are glad we came!”
The Denver event comes a few weeks after a successful event in Scottsdale, Ariz. Wiley Larsen ’94 said of that gathering, “The Arizona alumni event was a great evening! We had enjoyable time catching up with people we hadn’t seen in a long time, and getting to know other Arizonans who attended Sterling at different times over the years. It was great to hear from Dr. Maurer about all the wonderful things that are happening at the College…how enrollment is up and how Sterling continues to grow as a Christ-centered college. We look forward to the next event in the Phoenix area!”
More alumni events will be held throughout 2011. Gatherings that are in the planning stages now are Dallas/Ft. Worth, Colorado Springs, Omaha, the Moline, Illinois area and Wichita. If you live in any of these areas and would like to be involved in the planning of the events, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 620-278-4228. The alumni events in 2010 proved to be very enjoyable for all who attended. We hope you will choose to join us in 2011 at an event close to you!
