Gearbox Records' Darrel Sheinman says:

"We built the studio in order to master and cut our own content exactly how we want - that is with no digital in the signal path...not even a digital to analogue convertor."

"On the mastering side we are not against digital, but it has its place, eg in the restoration of old tapes, storing content and previewing. However, analogueʼs place is vinyl and tape. We would even allow digital before the Studer C37 source (e.g. for restoration), especially as we found that putting digital onto 1/4 inch tape actually improves the soundstage! Although mastering a digital source onto vinyl has been shown to give a healthy dose of that analogue warmth and openness, going fully analogue gives an unparalleled sound stage."

There'll be informal demos plus Q&As from Darrel at: 12noon, 1pm, & 2pm.

MCAnnapackagingcomponents

Ortofon MC Anna is a no compromise high-end cartridge

"This is a very difficult cartridge to fault".

"Its behaviour had the smooth sophistication that would pass muster at the ambassador's ball pictured in the well known Ferrero Roche adverts, yet it still managed to make Joplin's gravely tones sound both realistic and unpolished."
"In short, it is excellent. If you can afford it, then buy one. If you can't afford it then start saving now!"
Hi-Fi World
"It offers a natural presentation with a pure, clean & uncoloured sound. It tracks well too: highly modulated LPs are negotiated with a relaxed ease that borders on insouciance and the music is reproduced with a lack of strain that's a joy."
"Stereo separation was wide, and soundstaging was holographic. Indeed, when a cartridge of the Anna's calibre is partnered well, you seem able to play almost any old piece of vinyl and have it sound great. Amazing!"
Hi-Fi Choice

There'll be informal demos from Henley Designs (UK distributors of Ortofon & Pro-Ject) throughout the day.

Indigo phono cable

Cables are not & never have been an accessory.

They are a vital part of your system, and choosing the right cable is more important now than it ever has been.

The typical domestic home has become a hostile place.

Especially for a signal as complex as a piece of music travelling from one component to another. Chord cables are designed to minimise the effects of this electrical interference. You might not know it’s there, but you’ll definitely know when it isn’t!

The Chord 'Tuned ARAY' technology has now been applied to a range of cables. Detail, drama, emotion, rhythm, dynamics and timbre. Silence between each note, a stereo image so solid that you could walk into it, voices at the right height, an orchestra with every instrument perfectly in place.

There'll be informal demos from Chord throughout the day.
