Top Tips for a successful website

Many businesses add a website as an afterthought and then think along the lines of ‘build it and they will come’. Unfortunately, this usually isn't the case!

Before the website has even been created a business needs to decide what the website is going to do for the business, how it will help the business and how the website is going to be managed once it’s up and running.

Karen Leslie from Mount Gambier Website Design will address website issues whe she presents on how an effective website can be achieved.

These top tips will be useful whether you are thinking about a new website or have a website up and running already.

Member Profile - Millie Millie Embroidery

Marlene Webb and her husband Wayne began their home based business, situated at 47 Salom Street Bordertown in July 2005 after selling their farm. We purchased a single head top of the range Baruden 15 thread Embroidery machine. After learning to operate the machine through the Wilcom Digitizing Embroidery software we have established a thriving business, servicing local and surrounding districts with embroidery, logos, workwear and corporate apparel, with a keen emphasis on clubs.

In October 2011 we decided to expand our business and invested in a 4 head Baruden Embroidery machine which operates four embroidery designs at once to help get through the work load a lot faster and more efficient. This has been a bonus as now larger orders can be accommodated easily.

We specialize in selling Dri Glo Australian made good quality cotton towels/bath sheets, face washers consisting of Australian cotton made in Australia as we are a strong believer of utlilizing Australian products as much as we can. We also sell a range of baby apparel, made in South Australia under the name of Lil Gem Baby label and these are good quality baby rugs, bibs etc.

Designs can be scanned or emailed in jpeg form to be digitized and embroidered on almost anything from caps, bags, swags etc.

Attending workshops in design and embroidery have increased our knowledge and we have added to our business, a Roland printing machine so now we can heat press names, designs on shirts, tee shirts, chairs, etc.

Marlene works full time from the business and she can be contracted anytime on 0429677065 or home phone 0887522669.

Archers Arcadia Exhibition - another reason to come to Bordertown to hear Sally Sara

Roll Up! Roll Up! Just like the traditional travelling show, Archer’s art circus will be in the Tatiara at the Walkway Gallery from Monday, September 3 to Monday, October 1st. Come along and turn the handles, push the buttons and look through the lenses into working dioramas. This free installation creates an atmosphere of carnival excitement and appeals to all ages.

Naracoorte Networking

Naracoorte is central for the region and this advantage was again highlighted when members from Mount Gambier and Portland joined women from Bordertown and Lucindale to hear about the importance of finances. Paula Gust Financial Planner with Murray Nankivell stressed that it is never to early to consider wealth creation strategies. It was also an opportunity to discuss the formation of a Naracoorte network with Jenny Blomberg of Limestone Coast Training putting her hand up to host a Skills for All Dinner at Billy Macs on Wednesday 31 October 2012. More news later.
