A few days ago, I was food-shopping with my twelve-year-old Harry and as we were transporting bags, I asked him to hold my pocketbook and warned him it was heavy. He took it, looked at me and said, “It’s your choice to carry a heavy bag.”
Grrrrr…..
My defenses kicked in and I let him know a lot of the stuff in there was to make his life better too: tissues, sunscreen, the list for his lacrosse team, the comb for his beautiful hair, the lifesavers he likes.
Then I thought I would consider this message from the mouth of my babe….
As I head into summer, I will focus on the things that don’t weigh so much and fill my summer with more of this. My goal is that by the time Harry and I are shopping for school supplies, my “bag will be lighter.”
