Come learn about how SLP helped our Fellows get funded!

Join us this Monday July 30th and hear from two SLP NY fellows Ben McKean and Kanchan Koya about how they got funded and how SLP has helped their businesses.

Ben McKean is the Co-Founder and CEO of Savored, which is the nation’s leading provider of yield management solutions to the restaurant industry. Savored leverages a proprietary technology that searches restaurant availability and leverages yield management to offer diners the lowest possible price at great restaurants. Ben has led 2 rounds of funding for Savored. He is an 2011 SLP Fellow, graduated from the New York chapter.

Kanchan is founder of SwitchBiotics. Prior to this, she completed her PhD at Harvard Medical School in cell, molecular and cancer biology. Kanchan has also served as an intern with Flagship Ventures, a leading seed-stage venture creation fund in Cambridge MA helping with intellectual property assessments for a life-science start-up. She is currently CEO of SwitchBiotics, a drug discovery company for which she raised an angel round of funding. She was selected as a 2008 Fellow to the Startup Leadership Program in Boston, and launched and ran the program in New York in 2011. In 2011, she was named one of 25 women to watch by Venture Beat, and 30 Founders to follow on twitter by Huffington Post.

The event will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the at the offices of Bundle (149 5th Ave (21st St.), 4th floor, New York, NY 10010).

About The Program

The Startup Leadership Program (SLP) trains its Fellows to become the next generation of founders, leaders and innovators. SLP teaches practical skills to Entrepreneurs by engaging startup veterans. It is complementary to University curricula and many leading incubators and accelerators. Our Fellows have been accepted into Techstars, DreamIT and Excelerate and have founded various disruptive startups such as SideTour, Shareaholic, Solar Junction, Ubersense, Savored, Voicetap.

The Curriculum

Learn entrepreneurial skills through immersion in the startup community. Our faculty is a mix of Entrepreneurs, VCs and Specialists, as well as our Fellows. The program runs for 6-months (September through March) including 60 hours of interactive coursework, some minor home prep, and 20 hours of giving back. Classes are held twice a month in the evening and there are three all-day Saturday workshops. The format is primarily Socratic discussions and panels led by active participants of the industry. We focus on what is important for the entrepreneur, from cultivating your idea, to building your company, to raising capital, to making an exit. After graduation, the learning continues with industry focused groups, networking events, and global calls with accomplished Fellows and executive partners helping us stay connected.

The Network

Join the Startup Ecosystem while making lasting friendships. Become part of an incredibly accomplished global network of peers and mentors who will answer your questions, provide you with access to investors, and help you along the way in every way possible. You will meet 500 equally amazing people like yourself at SLP. You'll find co-founders, business partners, experts, advisers and investors here. The SLP community serves as a supportive foundation for entrepreneurs to develop their idea, find capital, and grow their company.
