A dog, two horses and two Macaw parrots

Finally Safe, Warm and Dry thanks to you!!

Freed from a life at the end of a rope and an environment of filth.

In July of this year, prompted by citizen complaints from Lincoln, HSSF found animals in varying stages of neglect.

Some were malnourished and living in unhealthy conditions. Others were without food or clean water or any water whatsoever.

After repeated attempts to provide direction to the owner on proper care, it became apparent that HSSF’s legal authority would have to be utilized to the full extent of the law to remove these animals from further neglect and cruelty.

Malnourished, living outdoors, in filthy conditions this Macaw's lower beak hasn't been trimmed in a very long time.

On November 14th our Humane Officer executed a search warrant at the property in Lincoln.

Accompanying our officer were two veterinarians to determine the condition of the animals and, a rescue team of professionals and transport equipment.

Animals that didn't meet minimum standards for either cruelty or proper living quarters, were removed from the property and taken to awaiting safe locations for further medical treatment and rehabilitation.

On November 20th at the post seizure administrative hearing, the hearing officer found the animal seizure was justified.

Subsequently, HSSF prepared the case for the District Attorney's office for consideration of animal cruelty charges.

HSSF is YOUR Humane Society, working to protect the animals you love.
