What Does That Have To Do With Training?
This past weekend I traveled to St. Paul to listen to presentations about vaccination protocol, canine immunology, nutrition and genetics by Dr. Jean Dodds and Dr R.D. Schultz. I can tell you that my head is swimming with information!
So what does this have to do with training? Well, a lot!! If you feed your dog a poor quality diet, or your dog has a hypersensitivity to food, behavior problems can/will arise (it is like feeding your child Cheetos and Twinkies as their primary food source). Not all vaccinations are necessary. Do your research. The only vaccinations your dog must legally have is Rabies; however, there are core vaccinations recommend for viruses that are deadly to your dog. Remember, you must consent to having your dog vaccinated. I also learned that in a case study of 634 dogs, over 2/3 of them had thyroid dysfunction and that thyroid disease is genetic. As not to bore you with the details, I’ve included links in this article. In the near future I will be writing a blog describing some of the clinical symptoms of thyroid dysfunction and how that relates to training.
