AIR QUALITY ALERT SEASON IS HERE

With the onset of the warmer weather, we urge Rhode Islanders to be aware of the increased risk of ground-level ozone and fine particle pollution, and take precautions when smog levels are high. Air Quality forecasts are issued daily by RIDEM-Air Resources and can be found at http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/benviron/air/pm.htm or at http://www.epa.gov/region1/airquality/aqi-ri.html. Regional information can be found at http://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.local_state&stateid=41&tab=0.

Poor air quality affects everyone, but some people are particularly sensitive to air pollutants, including children and adults. When Air Quality is predicted to be unhealthy, RIDEM and EPA will announce an air quality alerts.

On Air Quality Alert Days, FlexService and all fixed-route RIPTA buses and trolleys are FREE!

To protect your health, improve air quality and save money, leave your car at home and take the bus on Air Quality Alert Days. The ride’s on us! Click here.
