Here are directions and FAQ's for Sunday's Mulligan Metric and Half-Metric Marathon events benefitting victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. If you RSVP for friends and they are not on this mailing list, please make sure to share if they are driving separately.

FAQ
1. Is either event closed? No, you may register for the Metric or the Half-Metric. You may switch from the Metric if you are already registered. The Metric Marathon (26.2 kilometers) is 16.3 miles long, the half is 8.15 miles in distance. We may be a little off on the half due to the short notice to put this together.
2. The Half is race day registration only. Look for the Metric Half-Marathon table.
3. Pre-registered Metric Marathoners may pick up their shirt and bib at Falls Road on Saturday from Noon til 5:00 PM or on race day. There are no more men's shirts.
4. If you are writing a check, make it payable to the Celtic Star Foundation. If you need a receipt for taxes we can arrange that, let us know. The Mulligan Metric expenses - police, parks and rec, permits, spot-a-pots, were covered by the earlier registrations, 100% of the post-Boston proceeds will go directly to impacted families, no management fees, rent, or any other expense of any nature will be deducted along the way.
5. If you bring a stroller you are expected to start at the back of the pack. The course is a bit rough and crosses the CSX railroad tracks in the first mile.
6. Race start is 8:00 AM. Please plan to arrive early as there is only one road into the parking area. See below.

Directions and Parking

From Baltimore City take Lombard west to Green Street and turn left (south). Cross Pratt Street, the first light will be Washington Ave. Turn right and go until you see a huge green space on your right. That is Carroll Park.

From I 95 take the Washington Boulevard exit into Baltimore City. The park is on the left after the intersection with Monroe Street.

Either way, about halfway down the park is the entrance way. (Marked by "A" on the map below) There is a sign that says "Mount Clare Mansion". Turn into the park and go straight all the way to the back for parking. If the lots are filled, then park on the shoulders of the interior roads of the park, there is plenty of space.

The course will start near Mount Clare Mansion, wind through the park, and exit at Monroe and Washington. It will continue southwesterly until you reach the Carroll Park Golf Course and the main trailhead of the Gywnns Falls Trail.

When you go up the switchback, you will be on Wilkens Ave. Make a left and go down to the intersection for the road crossing. It will be staffed by uniformed police officers.

The next street is Frederick Road. Make a right and go down about two hundred meters. There will be a water stop there and officers guarding the road crossing.

You will cross Baltimore Street and eventually arrive at a large open field. Bear right onto the loop around the field. There will be a water stop at the top of the loop. Metric Marathoners will be directed out of the loop and out to Winan Meadows from there. Half-Metric Marathoners will continue around the loop and return to the finish line.

Full Metric Marathoners will continue along the trail. It will turn into a crushed limestone surface and run through the woods for a distance. You will come to an intersection of another trail, a crossroads. GO STRAIGHT!!!! There will be arrows pointing you straight, do not turn.

After you come out at the Windsor Mill Trailhead the course will turn sharply to the left onto a long, straight road. At the end of that road will be a Power Gel station and water stop. You will also make a right turn there.

Stay on the main trail paralleling the road. We will mark the course with arrows, but still, if it looks like a secondary trail, then it probably is and you should not go there.

After a series of switchbacks you will be on a sidewalk up to the turnaround and return.
