This isn't The Great Gatsby you grew up with! The 2013 retelling of the Great American Novel is big, flashy and high-octane, and it comes with an appropriately powerful soundtrack with music from Jay-Z, Beyonce, Florence & the Machine, The xx, Jack White and more. The soundtrack was produced by Jay-Z and released on Interscope this week, and it was mastered by Tony Dawsey with Tim Boyce assisting.

French Montana's long-awaited debut full-length "Excuse My French" will be released on May 21 on Bad Boy/Maybach Music Group/Interscope Records. Also mastered by Tony Dawsey with Tim Boyce assisting.

This week Scott Hull mastered Pippin (the New Broadway Cast Recording), which will be released on Sh-K-Boom. Mixed by Lawrence Manchester and produced by Kurt Deutsch.

Hypebot reports: "At the Music Biz 2013 Conference [this week] in LA, Rhapsody announced that it is adding liner notes and credits to it's digital music offering. Credits for songwriters, background performers, producers and engineers are being added to the song title, album, and featured artist listed on other music services." Very promising news.

Rush fans rejoice! Andy VanDette's highly-acclaimed remastering work for Rush continues! Andy recently completed the series of albums from 1989's "Presto" to 2007's "Snakes and Arrows." The new remasters will first see release at the Mastered for iTunes store, then HD Tracks, and later in physical formats.

New Orleans jazz maestro Kermit Ruffins has a new album, "We Partyin' Traditional Style" coming out on Basin Street Records on May 28. Produced by Tracey Freeman, recorded and mixed by Chris Finney and mastered by Vlado Meller.

The great British singer Linda Thompson was here with producer Ed Haber. They brought Linda's new record, her first since 2007's "Versatile Heart," to Scott Hull for mastering. That's Scott, Linda, and Ed pictured on the right.

Il Volo's "We Are Love" (Special Edition) is being released on Interscope on May 28. Produced by Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis, mixed by Humberto Gatica and mastered by Vlado Meller.

April 20 was Record Store Day and we celebrated in style, listening to records, of course. We hosted Mike Newman's roving Beyond Beyond is Beyond listening party and spun Captain Beefheart's "Lick My Decals Off Baby" and Caravan's "In the Land of Gray and Pink" for 30 friends. The recap is on our blog.

Speaking of events, Scott Hull presented the third installment of his successful new "Off the Record" series at City College last month, with special guest Rob Mathes. Look for new installments of this great new community-building program in the fall.

There's a batch of new and upcoming Tzadik releases to look for, all mastered by Scott Hull: Annie Gosfield's "Almost Truths and Open Deceptions," John Zorn and Thurston Moore's Zorn & Moore, John Zorn's DREAMMACHINES (Medeski, Wollesen, Dunn, Baron), plus new works by David Fulmer and Noah Creshevsky.

Ann Pragg's "Bitter Fruit" was released on Wonderland Archives this month (and will be released on vinyl in June). Produced by Gabriel Galvin & Boyd Shropshire, mixed by Gabriel Galvin and mastered by Randy Merrill.

Also mastered by Randy Merrill: Lauren Diamond's "In the Rough" -- recorded and mixed by Aaron Nevezie at The Bunker.

Davell Crawford's "My Gift To You" is set to be released on Basin Street Records. Recorded and mixed by David Farrell and mastered by Vlado Meller.

In addition to working on the Rush catalog, Andy VanDette has been busy mastering some other notable projects: Blue Coupe (featuring Albert Bouchard of Blue Oyster Cult) has a new album called "Million Miles More," mixed by William Huart. Matthew Good's "Arrows of Desire" is due out on Frostbyte Media (Randy Staub, mix engineer). Headstones' "Love and Fury" was mixed by Vic Florencia and produced by Chris Osti.
