This year we are working to build four new alumni chapters in Phoenix, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Colorado Springs and Denver. In November we met with alumni at the Old Town Tortilla Factory in Scottsdale, AZ. It was exciting to see alumni interacting with each other, to visit with former SC President Ed Johnson and his wife April, and to enjoy a fun evening with alumni from the 1950s to the 2000s.

This was the first alumni event that Wally Zimmer ’65 had ever attended. Reflecting on the event Wally said, “This year, I went to my first Sterling College alumni gathering at a very nice upscale restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. I had a valuable opportunity to get reacquainted with other graduates like Dr. Wayne Broky ’66, Tim Rundus ’64 and Wiley Larsen ‘94, who is the son of Chuck Larsen ‘66. Since going to this event, I made a promise to contact other classmates like Harry Lentz, Jim Nystrom and my freshman roommate, Phil Kelsey, by phone. I think every Sterling graduate ought to put ”a visit to their Alma Mater” on their “Bucket-List”.

The Office of Alumni Relations is planning more alumni and friends events in Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Wichita, Omaha, the Quad Cities area in Iowa/Illinois and Colorado Springs during the first half of 2011. Plan to attend these events if they are in your area and check out the Sterling website for event information as the Alumni pages are updated: www.sterling.edu.

You are why we hold these events. You are who we want to connect with, and you are why we do what we do. It is all about the people!

Blessings to each one of you and we hope to see you out there somewhere in the near future!
David Earle '88, Director of Alumni Relations
