Is the Canadian winter wearing you down?
Do you feel like you need to escape the cold and snow?
Even if you can't get away from it all, try taking a little mini holiday right at home. Try refreshing yourself with a little healthy indulgence. Maybe a nice long hot bath, a massage, a manicure or pedicure are in order or consider treating your senses to a lavish meal of unfamiliar foods. Simple pleasures can really satisfy and invigorate one self. These periodic gifts of luxury remind us of what is good and wonderful in this life.
I have recently found one little pleasure, myself. This recipe has stemmed from my love of all things Indian and in particular, chai. I have tried chai in many variations in my life and I have just recently found a new one that I would like to share with you. This cold drink reminds me of the warm days that await us (and of couse of India with all of its warm spices and flavours).
Put everything in blender and blend (of course).
Enjoy the splurge!
(If you don't have dates, substitute with alternative sweeners like stevia, agave or coconut sugar)
If you want to try making your own almond milk (it's easy, really). Soak 2 cups of almonds in 6 cups of water for at least 6 hours. Blend in blender and strain milk in colander.
