Hey there! Thanks for subscribing and letting me drop by with some extra tips this week.

(Did someone share this with you? If so, consider subscribing here so you don't miss any future fun.) Enjoy!

1. A favorite tool of mine

I've mentioned Workflowy in passing, but it's worth highlighting. If you like to organize your thoughts in outline form (for a book maybe?), check it out. It's so simple and yet so powerful. I'm using it for a new project and I'm loving it.

2. One clever way to market your business (if done right)

There's a TON to be gleaned from this post, 12 Lessons Learned While Marketing “The 4-Hour Body” (please note there's some language). The thing I wanted to point out was the email Tim Ferriss (author of The 4-Hour Workweek & 3 other bestsellers) received from Charlie and how it turned into a job. This is one way to spread the word about your services (hello virtual assistants!). It's risky because it can come across as spammy, but notice how Charlie was humble yet confident, helpful but not manipulative.

3. The relationship between a blog and an aspiring author

I know many of you are aspiring authors. Sometimes it's fun to read the story of a real person who has done just what we're hoping to do. Here's one of those stories. Notice what Torre said in response to the question "What role did your blog play in getting the book deal?" Her answer: I wouldn’t have sold the book without my blog. If you don't have a blog, start one (it only takes 15 minutes)! Then, you have to build it! This was exactly what I learned when I went through my own book deal thing. These days, traditional publishers are looking for writers that have blogs.

4. So simple, but so overlooked

Do you have a link to your newsletter signup page (or other most important page) in your email signature? You should. (If you use Gmail, here's what mine looks like and how to add a signature to you emails.)

5. Speaking of Gmail, how do you like the new tabs?

If you're not a fan, I posted something new this week: How to Lose the Tabs in Gmail.

6. Other shenanigans...

If you haven't seen this video, I recommend it. It's inspiring. Also, this week was full of laughter on Facebook but this photo seemed to take the "cake."
