MILLICENT A BUZZ ONE NIGHT IN JULY

On a cold night in July 2012 over 30 women enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of McCourts Garden Centre Cafe. A delicious meal of gourmet dips and pizzas with Amanti coffee was enjoyed while our speakers Christine Agnew of McCourts Garden Centre spoke about her journey and the development of her site in Davenport Street Millicent. After dinner Moira Neagle talked about the influences in her life - her love of education, her family, her creative writing and her battle with breast cancer. Copies of her poetry book were available for sale. The buzz in the room was electric and feedback following the night indicates there is strong interest in a regular network for women in Millicent. More news later

SKILLS FOR ALL WAS THE TALK OF THE NIGHT

Over 30 women attended the Skills for All forum at Caffé Belgiorno's Tapas Bar coming from as far afield as Adelaide. Over dinner a panel of experts gave an insight into Skills in the Workplace a new State Government initiative to provide South Australians with subsidised training.

A big thanks go to David Hill of DFEEST, Jenny Blomberg of Limestone Coast Training and Di Ind of Di-Monty Training Solutions for a great combined presentation where we even enjoyed Word Bingo!

Top Tips for a successful website

Many businesses add a website as an afterthought and then think along the lines of ‘build it and they will come’. Unfortunately, this usually isn't the case!

Before the website has even been created a business needs to decide what the website is going to do for the business, how it will help the business and how the website is going to be managed once it’s up and running.

Karen Leslie from Mount Gambier Website Design will address these issues and more when she presents on how an effective website can be achieved.

Karen has been self employed since 1996 operating her own IT consultancy business. In 2007 she moved to Mount Gambier and realised that small and home based businesses needed a more cost effective website solution in the area. Karen fills this gap by creating cost effective websites that business owners can change and manage themselves.

These top tips will be useful whether you are thinking about a new website or have a website up and running already.
