FOXY REVIEW - July 2013

This summer we've had some fabulous weather already and the long term forecast looks promising too. Not just that but we have a new Royal Baby, Andy won Wimbledon at last, we seem set fair to win the Ashes and there's a faint glimmer of a wee economic upturn...

So whilst the going is good, we're going to concentrate on (mainly) good news to see us through the holiday season.

GIFT COMPETITION - HPI CHECKS

We have TEN free HPI Checks, each worth between £19.99-£24.99 to give away via our Facebook Page.

An HPI Check will tell you if the used car you want to buy has been stolen, written off in an accident or is the subject of any outstanding finance (that a new buyer might inherit). Each HPI Check comes with extra information about the car's likely value, CO2 rating/car taxation and economy.

HPI tells us that 1 in 3 used vehicles could be hiding something important from buyers and we don't want this to happen to members.

OH DEAR! IT'S INSURERS THIS TIME

High Street insurance brokers Swinton Insurance have been fined £7.4m for serious mis-selling and aggressive telephone sales tactics. Between 2010 and 2012 they sold £92m worth of add-ons, including personal accident, home emergency and motor breakdown policies, without explaining that these were optional.

If you think you might have been mis-sold an add-on like this by Swinton, you should complain to them, request compensation, and keep us posted afterwards re progress.

FOXY Apology

Last month we published a blog suggesting that criminals had started to lure and assault women drivers using distressed children at the roadside. Our advice was to report any such incident to the police rather than stopping.

Thanks to Club member Kathryn Tyne, we now understand that this was an urban myth imported from the USA and without any foundation. As such we wish to apologise for causing any unnecessary concerns here and we shall check third party contributions more thoroughly in future.

Saving young lives

Something radical needs to be done to save young lives on our roads. Pricing all but rich young motorists off our roads isn't going to help but what more can be done?

We have some ideas and have put these in a FOXY Lady blog and we have brought these to the attention of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport (including Road Safety) Stephen Hammond MP.
