Abraham’s Tent: Jews Christians and Muslims in the World Today will continue today at 9AM with "Sunday Morning at the Movies". Jacob Bender, an independent film director with deep experience of the Middle East interfaith dialogue, will present the first half of his award-winning film, “Out of Cordoba”. The conclusion will be presented next Sunday at 9AM. “Out of Cordoba” is a documentary film about the legacy of the Spanish city of Cordoba and its meaning for our times. The film explores the dramatic biographies of Averroes (Ibn Rushd) the Muslim, and Moses Maimonides the Jew (the Rambam), the two leading personalities of medieval Islamic Spain, and its heritage of convivencia (religious coexistence). A discussion with Jacob Bender will follow the second screening on Feb. 10th. (to view the trailer, please click here)

Maranatha House Churches convene again for Lent. Join a small group of parishioners who meet weekly for 6 weeks in a parishioner’s home for conversation and prayer. Please submit a form. St. Mark’s Rocks! Mark your calendar for this Friday, Feb. 8th, 5:30-9PM for a parish-wide event in Morrill Hall. Rock concert featuring parishioners of all ages, plus supper. Our house band for the evening will feature Tor Newcomer and fellow musicians from the Dressing Room Restaurant in Westport. This is a fundraiser for Youth Ministry. If you want to perform, call Mother Anne or John Layng.

Ash Wednesday is February 13, 2013. Services at 9:30AM (in the chapel) and 7:30AM (main church).

March for Change in regard to gun control will take place on Feb. 14th in Hartford. Buses are going from our area, and one will stop at St. Mark’s. Lenten Workshop with Bishop Grein: On Saturday, Feb. 23rd from 10:00AM-Noon in the Library, Bishop Grein will offer a workshop on the Daily Office, the daily prayer of the church. It's back by popular demand. If you came to last year’s workshop, come back for a refresher. If you are new to the practice of prayer, this is for you! Everyone is welcome.

Storm Season is Here and we continue to refine our parish emergency response program. Please call PERT (Parish Emergency Response Team) coordinator Heather Lauver at 704 806 9630 if you would like to be on a list of parish households offering overnight accommodations to another parishioner in the event of loss of power in the next big storm. Or speak to Mother Anne. Please note: You can create a Preparedness Profile with info about your specific medical conditions and needs, pets, vehicles, photos, and more at www.smartprepare.com. This profile can be used by the town to assist you in the event of an emergency.

The Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) in Stamford (the sole provider of domestic violence services in New Canaan and neighboring towns) invites participation in rallies to end the worldwide epidemic of violence against women, to be held on February 14th in Stamford and Norwalk. Nursery

In the Episcopal Church, all baptized children are invited to receive the bread and wine of Holy Communion. Please complete the Church School/Youth Registration in the narthex or outside Morrill Hall, or click here for a PDF of the form.

Nursery Care: St. Mark’s has a wonderful group of childcare professionals ready to take good care of your children, ages three and under. It is available from 8:45-11:45AM in the Nursery room found at the end of the hall. Sarah Williamson and Rachel Mihaeles will be there to greet you and your children this week.

Godly Play children: (3 yr olds through 2nd grade) Please gather in the library.

Weaving God’s Promises: (3rd through 6th grades), go to Education Center and Outreach Room.

Look for your children to join you in the church at the passing of the Peace!

TotalChaosInTheNameOfTheLord has its annual Souper Bowl of Caring collection today right after church. Grab a soup pot and ask folks to donate! All money collected will be donated to Feed My Starving Children. "Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world." St. Mark’s Rocks! Attention all youth! We are looking for music acts to play at the St. Mark’s Rocks event February 8th. If you sing or play an instrument, let Mother Anne know. Maybe do an act with a few friends?! (This event is replacing Jam Jam and is a fundraiser for Youth Ministry.)
