Please join us for Evensong in celebration of The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) - September 30th (time TBA).
The Reverend Canon Fenton will be with us for the service, as well as Aaron Eime (curator of the Heritage Museum at Christ Church, Jerusalem).
Canon Fenton writes: "During this feast the Israelites live in booths or tents commemorating and teaching future generations of the living conditions and God’s provision in the wilderness after He delivered them from slavery in Egypt. Their tent-like dwellings served to remind Israel that, even in the midst of trial and less than desirable circumstances, God provides. The feast is also a time of thankfulness and rejoicing for the Lord’s blessings throughout the agricultural year. Abiding in temporary shelters for seven days when their homes were full of great harvest was a humbling experience for the Israelites. Instead of fostering the idea that it was the work of their hands that produced the abundance of fruit and various other crops, their dwelling in booths was a stark reminder that everything that they have is a blessing and a gift from the Lord."
