Report from the 2013 EMDRIA Conference
This year's EMDRIA Conference was among the best attended with over 800 EMDR trained clinicians.
Keynotes
All three keynote presentations were excellent. Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. presented "The Cutting Edge of MindBody Medicine: From Immunology to Neuroscience" a highly personal and educational presentation filled with humor. Vincent Felitti, M.D. presented highlights from the "Adverse Childhood Experiences Study" and Robert Stickgold, Ph.D. presented "The Science of EMDR: An Update on Current Theories Regarding Mechanisms of EMDR."
Educational Sessions
There were many wonderful educational presentations this year. I encourage you to look over the complete listing and see if there are some that could help you in your professional development. Keep reading to find out how.
Conference Recordings
If you missed the conference, you can still listen to the keynote presentations and all the other educational presentations and read the handouts with the complete set of recordings from Convention Media. Your best value is the entire conference as MP3 files together with all the session handouts for just $169. You will find a complete listing of the available sessions on the Convention Media site.

October EMDR Research News
This month there are eight new journal articles, six on EMDR therapy and two studies of eye movements. Two randomized controlled trials of EMDR therapy from Europe: the first is on EMDR vs. wait list for dental phobia and the second is on EMDR vs. prolonged exposure for PTSD in patients with psychosis. Find all eight articles in the October EMDR Research News on the SonomaPTI blog.
Video of the month
This month, I am bringing you the invited closing plenary which I delivered June 13, 2010 at the EMDR Europe Conference in Hamburg on “The Future of EMDR.” Since the past is prologue to the future, this presentation began with a 20 year history of key research and criticisms about EMDR before closing with 12 predictions for the future.
