Eyeball Mansion is excited to announce its inaugural curatorial exhibition; Cosmos: Drawings and a Book by Eric Lebofsky. This solo exhibition will consist of approximately 20 new ink drawings on archival, mediumand large-scale paper as well as a signed and numbered artist book.

Though the drawings function individually, an implied narrative emerges when they are viewed as a system. The exhibition's title, which is borrowed from the Witold Gombrowicz book of the same name, is an apt metaphor for Lebofsky's work, which often combines elements of science fiction, humor, and eroticism into dense symbolic and narrative structures. The curation of the work in this exhibition will explore the idea of interconnectedness, utilizing tactics which create a dialogue with and between the drawings and the viewer. Alongside the drawings being presented, an artist book containing both process and finished drawings and a short science-fiction story will be on display and available for purchase.

This exhibition began with a series of whiteboard sketches Lebofsky had done in his home studio that mapped out various fictive systems. As these systems evolved, Lebofsky began to collaborate with Eyeball Mansion as a curator to develop this exhibition. Such concepts were explored as the Multiverse, Ancient Aliens, Cosmology, and Chaos and a focus began to emerge. Over time and through the lens of this systemic Cosmology, the drawings Lebofsky began to create sorted themselves into three distinct groupings: The Primeval, The Chorus, and The Totemic Ghost-Gods. This work will culminate in the exhibition Cosmos.

Eyeball Mansion and Eric Lebofsky are pleased to be presenting Cosmos at Rational Park Gallery, a cooperative art & design gallery and studio located in Humboldt Park, Chicago, Il. The opening reception for this work will be held Saturday, April 20th from 7-10 PM. The show will remain up through May 11th and can be viewed in the interim by appointment.
