Dear St. Andrew's Families,

The senior class co-president Emily Troisi wrote the following to me on Wednesday afternoon: "Peter's exhibition is tomorrow during 3rd and I'm trying to get the entire senior class to meet in Amos during break to celebrate him finishing his exhibition because we love him."

Emily was referring to her co-president, Peter D'Agostino, who finished his exhibition yesterday morning. If I had one minute to share "St. Andrew's" with a stranger I would consider showing them the video below. It's an unvarnished mash-up of enthusiasm, joy for another, faculty support, silliness, and academic accomplishment that I hope brings a smile to your face.

All the best,

Rooting for Abu Kamara '16

We are so proud of Abu Kamara '16 who is currently competing in the Scholastic National Chess Championship in Nashville, TN.

Abu is incredibly modest, but we can't help but send our thoughts and cheers his way.

In the Classroom

"They are a very persuasive group," smiled Dan O'Connell as he led his III Form biology class to the bio barge earlier today. Dan decided to move his lesson on "spring sprouting" outside after the students banded together in the hopes of enjoying the afternoon sun. Here he is passing out pieces of a branch. "Do you see the beginnings of a leaf in your branch?"

In the Classroom Part 2

Each of the 15 students in Avi Gold's Dance 1 class created their first piece of choreography in collaboration with Will Porter's English class. The project is called Poetry in Translation. Will's class has been working through Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself." The dancers were charged with finding passages that spoke to them and creating a dance to their own recitation of those phrases.

Alumni Support

James Jenkins '98 spoke to students at School Meeting this week via Google+ to introduce a film he's bringing to campus next Friday. The film, Journey of the Universe, was produced by one of James' teachers at Yale Divinity School, John Grim. Thanks to James, Dr. Grim will be available to answer questions from students after the screening.
