125 … you are going to see that number a lot this year. On November 1, 1887, 125 years ago, Sterling College opened its doors as Cooper Memorial College. God’s providence and grace has brought this College through wars, depressions, tragedies and we see the evidence of the Holy Spirit at work through the years.
Since graduation, many of us have been busy – including our students. You can read about student mission trips on our website. Our homepage will give you all of the latest news from campus, too. There are four big stories I especially want to share with you below.
God is good, whether I understand His actions or not. Sterling College is in the midst of change, but we are growing together to better serve His purpose and His glory. Christian Dashiell ’02, our new campus chaplain has instigated a summer community prayer series where we are looking at 1 Corinthians. It’s a refreshing and open time to come together and pray for each other and God’s work on this campus.
Pray for the Board of Trustee as they look for a new president to lead Sterling College. We are looking to the future with anticipation and hope.
We just reached the end of our fiscal year and we thank God for each of you and the support that you have shown us this past year. Your prayers, encouragement, finances, and other involvements are greatly appreciated. You make it possible for the mission to continue and prepare a new generation of leaders to influence this world, just as you have done. If I could give each one of you a big hug in appreciation, I would.
This first week of July we celebrate with our neighbors to the north with Canada Day, and our own Independence Day. Please lift up prayers of thanksgiving for the leaders of these nations as well as those of nations around the world that are struggling. We have alumni in some of those nations. Pray that the Lord will use them in small and mighty ways to bring Him all glory and honor.
God Bless you all,
