Happy New Year!

As I mentioned in my New Year's Day blogpost I absolutely love the feeling of a New Year - so much promise and possibility!

January has been lovely so far with a great balance of work and time reading & crafting. We've spent a lot of time outside enjoying the snow (now mostly gone!) and starting to cut up a downed tree in our woods - good for the body and soul. Our fire has been getting lots of use and we've just generally been cozied up! The next few weeks are bringing friends up to Vermont for visits and a few official crafting weekends with other friends - heaven :)

PERSONAL

2012-FAMILY-FINAL
▪ We spent our first Christmas in our new house....at home! My Brother Jon and Mom came to spend the night and we ate our weight in good food - it was lovely.
▪ Some simple photos of a quiet Saturday spent at home
▪ We celebrated Aidan's birthday in early December with a Thanksgiving sized feast and some football outside to build up our appetite!
▪ Fall seems to be parade season around here - a fun way to spend a Sunday!
▪ This collage of summer Instagram photos brought back many happy memories of warmer months :) For Christmas I got Jeff a few sheets of Sticky Grams - magnets of favorite Instagram photos - it was a hit!
▪ Our house gets the most beautiful light and looks out on a field that frequently features dramatic skies!

▪ Laura & Andrew's wedding was featured on In Bliss Weddings
▪ I delivered Kate & John's beautiful Queensberry album before Christmas
▪ Chris & Emily's wedding was featured on Savvy Deets Bridal
▪ Queensberry press albums are a great option for people who want to include a large number of photos - this one had about 300!
▪ Brett & Amy's wedding was featured on Wedding Wire!
▪ Kim surprised Pete with their Digital Flushmount wedding album under the tree!
▪ On a beautiful October day I photographed the dedication of Middlebury College's new research vessel
▪ Wendy & Mike's beautiful Matted Album arrived a few weeks before their son was due....good timing!

RECOMMENDATIONS

I've been frequenting the library and running down my Pinterest board of Books to Read for suggestions.

▪ Cutting for Stone grabbed me from the first pages and despite it's length (500+) I was never bored and remained engaged until the end - a great read!
▪ The Song of Achilles was recommended to me by a friend (how I find most of my books) and it didn't disappoint - I found it to be an interesting take on a familiar subject.
▪ I got on a Chris Bojalian kick and read two of his books in a row - I've since read one more and have another on the shelf! I find them very absorbing - the measure of a good book for me!

RECIPES

With these cold winter nights we've been cooking more (and honestly when I say we I mean Jeff - he is wonderful!!)

▪ Our sinful Christmas Rack of Lamb recipe - kudos to my Mom for the recipe and Jeff for doing some a great job cooking it - YUM.
▪ We tried this cheesy meat loaf mini recipe with Jonas and Aidan as part of their ongoing cooking lessons! It is a far cry from the dry meatloaf of a cafeteria - it's delicious!
