In an effort to highlight his passion for his craft, Karl J launched the Karl J Celebrity Hair and Fashion Show and Competition hosted by actress Vivica A. Fox on March 4, 2007 as a premier, must see event for industry, trade and consumers. The event drew thousands of people from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland and offered the opportunity for stylists to gain exposure in the industry. With the top stylist and designer winning a three thousand dollar cash prize coupled with a spread in the #1 selling urban hair and fashion magazine, Hype Hair Magazine, a much sought after opportunity to up and coming stylists. In attendance were celebrities: actress Vivica A. Fox, Paula J. Parker, Tamala Jones, Tasha Smith, Meagan Good, models Eva Pigford, Hoopz, Sundy Carter and Jon Blassingame, owner of Hype Hair Magazine. Coverage of the event can be seen on various television stations and publications throughout the tri-state.
Karl J’s premier event has blossomed into an annual event showcasing in major cities throughout the United States including Atlantic City, NJ, Miami, FL, Philadelphia, PA and abroad. In July 2011 the event took place on the beautiful island of Barbados. The show was held at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex and was an international success securing tourist from the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Each year the Karl J Celebrity Hair and Fashion show gets bigger and better increasing the prize awarded to ten thousand dollars and obtaining sponsorships from leading companies in the hair industry including Royal Imex, Sensual, Janet collect and Nicka K.

Karl J has much success to celebrate but through it all helping others brings him the most joy. Karl J continues to give back to his community in many creative ways, like orchestrating "Forever" a concert created to pay homage to the worlds’ greatest entertainer, Michael Jackson through song and dance and an effort to raise awareness to the children who suffer from HIV, cancer, leukemia, and other blood disorders. Karl J gave away 100 first level seats to the children of different organizations including; the Valerie Fund EST in 1976 that provides healthcare for children with cancer and blood disorders, the Dooley House in Camden NJ EST in 1988 which provides a homelike facility for children born with HIV/ Aids and other medically fragile children, as well as the Ronald McDonald House which provides housing for families with children with medical needs. Profits were also shared with these organizations. Patrons also had the opportunity to get a free HIV test via the mobile center provided by the CDC.
In the upcoming months Karl J will be on tour throughout the United States at seminars educating stylists on how to become a celebrity hair stylist, marketing, how to make money from behind the chair, while teaching the latest weaving and cutting techniques in the industry. He is also set to open a new Karl J Salon in Atlanta, GA summer 2015.
