Happy Fall!

Although I haven't quite let go of the summer we did light our first fire the other night and it was super cozy. Football, cider, pumpkins - I love the changing seasons. We're both hoping the hot dry summer will result in some spectacular foliage but so far things are staying green! Read on below and enjoy the news including a fall portrait fundraiser that I'm really excited about!

Take care!

FALL PORTRAIT FUNDRAISER

Screen Shot 2012-09-18 at 8.21.28 AM

This fall I'm partnering with local schools in Vermont and Shelburne Farms for a fall portrait fundraiser. Through the end of October, I'm donating $75 from the session fee to local education programs. If your child attends a participating school then $65 will go to that school and $10 will go to Shelburne Farms. If you were referred by the Farm, or aren’t affiliated with a participating school then $75 will go to Shelburne Farms!

PERSONAL

ORIG-2012-9-3-Fia3Bday-0083

We've had a great month as we continue to get settled into our house and people come to visit. When schedules allow we've really enjoyed attending local events and seeing friends - summer in Vermont is very sweet!

Ellie and her family visited us a few weeks ago
Fia turned 3 over Labor Day and we got to be there for her party!
Is there anything better than a quiet summer evening at the lake?
Strider has a new favorite spot in our house!
Fia and her parents spent a few nights at our house in August which was fun :)
The night before we closed on our house we celebrated with a boatride out on the lake!
Our friends had us over for a small going away dinner before we headed north!

WEDDINGS & ENGAGEMENTS

Perkins-0356

Summer was a busy time as always for weddings but things are starting to wind down....only two more to go!

Jon & Alex's beautiful Hermitage wedding
Hilary & Andrew's speedy Cornwall engagement photos!
Suzanne & Garrett's Hildene wedding was a blast and thankfully the pouring rain cleared in time for them to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony
Els & Simon's Manchester wedding was definitely a highlight of the season - canoe getaway anyone??!!
Tabitha & Taylor had a fun and very wet wedding!
This sweet couple was celebrating thirty years of marriage....pretty neat!
Brett & Amy shared their favorite photos from the wedding

PORTRAITS

I always love meeting families and hanging out with kids!

Jonah & Mia were SO sweet and I loved meeting them!
I spent a morning at Shelburne Farms photographing their outdoor adventure summer camp - I want to be a kid again!
I loved re-connecting with former wedding clients Mike & Alice and meeting their adorable son Ben (and his big Brother Zach!)

MISCELLANEOUS

Lord-0015
In preparation for her recently published book I photographed Maggie Lord for her author's portrait - a first!

RECOMMENDATIONS

birthhouse

I've been trying to make the effort to turn off the computer at night and read more - it's always such a nice way to end the day and relax.

I really enjoyed reading The Birth House which was recommended to me by a former client
I listened to "Yes, Chef" as an audiobook - there's something magical about listening to a chef describe food!
