Crumb Quilts

I love when you ask questions! Right after the January 1st newsletter came out Diane emailed asking about fabric organization, storage, and how to use up leftovers. One thing led to another and the 2014 Crumb Quilt Challenge was born. Meet Megan Null in the video at the left, and then click here to read about the challenge on my blog.

Join Me at AQS QuiltWeek in Lancaster, PA. I'll be teaching four classes (String Star, Dancing Spools, Invisible Applique, and Twisted Sisters) and presenting a lecture. If you're already signed up, shoot me an email and let me know what class you signed up for. I can't wait to meet you! Click here and scroll all the way down to the bottom for information about each of my classes.

Later this month I'll be visiting the Macomb County Quilt Guild and the Genesee Star Quilters, both in Michigan. (There are still openings for my applique workshop in Burton, MI on Feb 22. Call Bonnie Winn at 810-743-6297 to sign up.)

Clip Fabric Strips Together

Janie Baker from the San Fernando Valley Quilting Association showed up to class with a Pampered Chef potato chip bag sealing clip. (I just made that up. I don't know what they're really marketed for.)
And a star is born! (Click the video to play it.)

It Can Be Confusing Sometimes

Several newsletter readers were confused about my blog and the newsletter and my web page and how to tell the difference.

Look at the three pictures above. From left to right they are:
newsletter, blog, and website.

The newsletter is what you're reading right now. It comes about twice a month and it is an email with pictures. I try to keep things short and sweet. You can also read it online on my website, or from any computer if you just know the link. If you hit REPLY you will wind up in MY email inbox. (And I'm always happy to get email from newsletter readers.)

My blog is called "Through the Eyes of a Quilter" and I usually write posts there that are longer. You can see six Twisted Sisters blocks across the top. If you subscribe to my blog, you will get an email of the contents. It is formatted differently than the blog itself. To see it "all pretty" just click the title of the blog. If you hit reply to that email you will get in my email inbox too. I would rather you comment on the blog. That way everyone can see your comment AND my answer. Find the little blue "comment" link and, well, comment. Comments are moderated, so you won't see them right away. I have to approve them first.

My website has hand quilting in the background on either side. It has information about my workshops and lectures, pictures of quilts (yours and mine), and quilting tools and supplies that I use and recommend. You have to know the URL to get there: www.AmiSimms.com.

Here's the bottom line: Read this newsletter! If there is something you should see on my blog or website, I will put a link to it in this newsletter. You won't miss a thing. Hope that helped!

Scooter's Video Pick

Hi, dog here. I like this one. Very beautiful singing. The little human person is cute too. Click the picture to play the video. Meanwhile, I will nap.
