Dear St. Andrew's Families,

I overbooked myself today. I offered to host a reporter from a local news station eager to file a report about the School's Green Ribbon award. Our meeting was scheduled to run right up to my IV Form History class, so I asked Jordan Boutte '15 ahead of time to tell the class I'd probably be a few minutes late and to tell Willie Maerov '15, who was scheduled to lead discussion that day, to get started. I'd be there as soon as I could.

The reporter was late and took twice as long as advertised, so I found myself fully trusting that something good was happening in the class without anyone over the age of 15 keeping watch. Thirty minutes after class had started, I was finally able to direct our brief tour straight to the classroom and this is what I found:

Jordan had delivered the message and Willie had gotten right down to business asking discussion questions about the reading. Carrie Priester '15 decided to take notes on the board and the students just ran with it. Julie Bennett '15 later told me, without any hesitation that it might crush my ego, that it was "probably one of our better classes."

I, of course, left them and steered the reporter, who was completely mystified, to the Field House. It's been a rather long week, but moments like these* remind me how lucky I am to work here and how thankful I am that you send your incredible kids to this electric community.

All the best,

*Another came about an hour later when Annie Pohl '13 delivered a Friday chapel talk about her time in Rwanda in front of a large crowd of supportive friends.

Students embarked on a walking tour of Cape Henlopen State Park with naturalist Dennis Forney P'94,'98, visited the University of Delaware's College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment, heard from students pursuing PhDs at the University, and toured an oil skimming boat.

Building a Solar Cell
