Dear friend,

Do you have a reset button for when your eating gets out of hand? For when you're making not-so-good choices, overeating, stress eating, happy eating, boredom eating? Or maybe you went on vacation and enjoyed a little over-indulgence?

This past weekend I overindulged. On Friday I had wine with way too much Italian bread. On Saturday I had cake at a kid's party. Then I had movie popcorn. I had cream caramel for Father's Day and then ice cream cake later that day for a birthday party. For me and likely you, too... that's a lot of over-doing it.

But you know what? I didn't allow it to get me down. I just used my reset button on Monday. Today is Friday and, outside of writing this, I haven't really thought again about what I ate last weekend.

Resetting is one of the most powerful tools you have in managing your weight. So this week, in the name of overindulgence, I'm encouraging you to push that reset button! Read on to learn how and also grab a great smoothie recipe that will help you to do it!

Until next time,

Confident Eater: How to reset your eating habits

reset button2

I realize it’s not easy to completely avoid processed foods, fatty foods, and sweets that you love.

I share this with my detoxers at about two weeks into our 21 day program, and now I'm sharing it with you as we roll head-on into summer.

Being a healthy eater doesn’t have to mean that EVERY SINGLE THING you put in your body is the most high-powered, anti-oxidant, nutrient-dense, super food on the planet.

Taking care of your health is about the choices you make MOST OFTEN.

It matters that these choices nourish and support you, your health, and your well-being.

It matters that you're proud of the food choices you make and you enjoy what you eat.

It also matters that when you do indulge, you don’t feel guilty about it. You don't make it be the "reason" to eat poorly the rest of the day. You are allowed to enjoy an indulgence and then move on.

So if today you find yourself struggling to "get back on track" and you're not feeling good in your own skin, it's time to use your own personal reset button!

Here's how to do it:

1. Decide to reset. This is the most important part. Always remember that YOU are in control of what you eat.
2. Get yourself in bed tonight an hour or so early. I know it's the weekend, but try to get a good night's sleep.
3. When you wake up Saturday morning, drink 16 oz of fresh water with the juice of half a lemon.
4. Then, and this is the important part....WAIT for real hunger to set in. Once it does, make yourself a delicious green smoothie. If you're leaving the house early, make it and take it with you.
5. Sip your smoothie slowly and smile while doing so. Remind yourself that today is a new day, and that yesterday ended last night.

Healthy eating is all about choices. You are in control of your choices and you can reset your eating habits any time you want to.
