Ontario’s Education Minister, Laurel Broten has publicly stated that Catholic schools in Ontario should not be teaching students that abortion is wrong because Bill 13 (“anti-bullying” law that passed before the legislature broke for the summer) prohibits “misogyny” (the hatred or dislike of women or girls).
This means that according to her interpretation of misogyny anyone who is pro-life also hates women.
Her statements have many leaders in the Catholic and pro-life community reacting - and rightfully so. Click here to read an article by LifeSiteNews.
Many studies and stories have now shown the negative effects of abortion on women are numerous. Many in the pro-life movement are not pro-life because of religious purposes but because they have seen the negative effects of abortion on women and have chosen to speak out against it. As they speak out regarding the negative effects of abortion they are speaking in defence of women. This is very far from misogyny.

OPTION 1
Dear ( Premier McGuinty or Minister Broten),
I am writing to express my concern and disagreement with the statement that the Catholic Schools should not be allowed to express pro-life views. This is in contradiction to the Canadian Charter of Rights which guarantees freedom of speech and religion for all Canadians.
Thank you,

OPTION 2
Dear (Premier McGuinty or Minister Broten),
I am writing today to express my deep concern regarding the recent statements made that to be pro-life is to by misogynous and therefore is a violation of Bill C 13. I am opposed by this statement for 2 reasons.
The first is that it is a well known fact that many women are living with the negative affects of abortion - physically, emotionally and psychologically. For this reason alone it is often in the best interest of women that the discussion is not suppressed or controlled by the government but that those who oppose abortion have the freedom to express their views openly. I believe this is actually in the interest of Ontario women and therefore an act of support for women.
Secondly, these statements are in direct violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights which expressly states that freedom of religious expression and freedom of speech is a Canadian right. I am very disturbed by an interpretation of Bill 13 that would violate our Charter.
Please revoke your statement that Catholic Schools are not allowed to share their views on this issue that is dear to Canadians.
Thank you.
