Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I present Ma’arechet Heidenheim, a 19th century commentary on the Haggadah. This commentary was written in Germany by Rabbi Tevele Bondi and published in 1898.
For the past fourteen years I have translated and published a different commentary each year on the Haggadah,. There are hundreds of such commentaries. Each has unique insights into the meaning of the Haggadah and Passover. They come from different countries and cultures.

“The Flat”
The director and members of his family are gathered in the apartment of his mother's mother a short while after her death to clear out the contents. His grandmother lived in the same apartment for 70 years, ever since she and her husband left Nazi Germany in the 1930s and emigrated to Palestine. The items they find reveal an astonishing chapter in the family's history - a chapter that had been kept under wraps for decades: His grandparents had a close personal relationship with a high Nazi official.

Hesed Committee
Oceanside Jewish Center has established a new Hesed Committee.
Hesed is Hebrew for "kindness." This word is commonly translated as "love" or "loving-kindness." It is at the very heart of the Jewish religion. Hesed is one of the pillars upon which the world stands. For a synagogue, hesed is one of the many ways that we express our sense of community and mutual concern for one another.
Our goal is to communicate with our synagogue family through all life-cycle events. We want to reach out and support you and your family in your simchas and sorrows. When one of us goes through a time of sorrow or a time of celebration the Hesed Committee will be there to help in the following ways:
* Caring phone calls
* Shiva visits
* Local hospital visits
* Offering a helping hand
You can contact the Hesed Committee Co-Chairs Phyllis Gangel and Sharon Kamens at our committee e-mail; hesed@oceansidejewishcenter.org
In times of loss or illness please contact our rabbis directly so they can assist you.
* Rabbi Mark Greenspan haravmark@optonline.net 516-659-3117
* Rabbi Aviva Fellman avivafellman@gmail.com 516-536-6112 ext 14
Please let us know if you would like to work with our committee. Please feel free to contact us at our e-mail; hesed@oceansidejewishcenter.org.
Each of us has something special to contribute to the well being of our community.
B’shalom,
The Hesed Committee
