Greetings!

I hope everyone has had a great March so far - it's been fun catching glimpses of spring here and there but I have a feeling there's still a bit of winter left - we'll see.

I'm savoring this quiet cozy time before the weeds in my garden start growing and I spend more time out of doors than in! We inherited the most magical perennial garden when we bought our house but are looking forward to planting some food.

We are in the process of talking to green thumbed friends to get suggestions - raised bed vs. in ground, great varieties of food to buy, how to prepare the soil, etc. - let me know if you have any advice! I've also been pinning ideas to my gardening board on Pinterest which is a great place to keep things organized!

Right now we're thinking about growing ....tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce varieties, strawberries, raspberries, fingerling potatoes, scallions, beans, carrots, peas. It's a balance between not biting off more than we can chew but also wanting to learn a ton about what works, what doesn't, etc - I'll be sure to document our adventures here!

Enjoy the news below and be well!

Amanda

PERSONAL

ORIG-2013-2-Personal-0017
We finally got that perfect snowy morning so I headed out at sunrise to photograph it!
Jeff and I celebrated eleven years of being together!
Instagram is such a great way to casually record life - I featured a collection of February instagrams as a big collage
Do you get too many catalogs? I 've used Catalog Choice for a few years now and it SERIOUSLY reduces the volume of them I get - well worth it!

PHOTOGRAPHY

I had the honor last month of being there to document my second birth - this time I welcomed Fia's younger Brother Holden into the world. I am always reminded when photographing a birth why they call it the miracle of life - simply incredible!
I've enjoyed volunteering these past few months for our local paper The Charlotte News and have been honored to have three of my images grace the cover!
Last weekend I spent time at Shelburne Farms shadowing the educators for their program the ABCs of Farm Based Education - it was really enlightening and so much fun!
When Holden was seven days old I did his "official" newborn photos - I love the look of a diapered babe on crisp white sheets
Fia and I spent a day together before Holden arrived - making cookies, making forts and just
hanging out - so fun!
I loved photographing Jackie and her striking horse Rumblefish

I loved this trio of Queensberry albums I delivered last month to Gallagher, David, and their families - a 12x12 matted for the bride and groom, and then a 10x10 and 7x7 digital copy albums for their parents - quite a set!
I sent this striking blue Queensberry album off to Zach's parents and dreamed off that warm Florida wedding again - ahhh sunshine!

RECOMMENDATIONS

racketeer

I'm back on the reading train this month which makes me incredibly happy - the librarians are my new best friends and I love when they recommend books or when I discover a new addition to the library.

I breezed through the latest John Grisham novel in 24 hours - I read his books in middle and high school but it had been too long!!
The imagery in The Night Circus is simply stunning - if someone could actually do it justice it would make an enchanting movie!

NOTABLI

Hero Video

One of my new favorite apps was created by Gray's Dad Jackson who is a designer of beautiful things. It's called Notabli and "helps parents easily capture, save, and share their kids’ notable moments with those they love. Notabli is all about kids and their amazing stories, filtered through the lens of their parents."

I love following some of my favorite kids and just created profiles for Sage & Strider (email me if you want to be added to their audience!)

More than instagram, you can also share audio and video which are always some of my favorites. It's completely private and you as the parent (or dog parent!!) have to invite people individually so you have complete control over who to share with.

It's available for the I-Phone through the App Store by clicking here - go check it out!

FACEBOOK POSTINGS

I realized that I share quite a few articles, funny photos, etc. on Facebook so figured I'd add a section to future newsletters with the best ones!
