Dr. Berkowitz named to New York Magazine’s Top Doctors list!

We congratulate Dr. Berkowitz on being named in the prestigious New York Magazine’s Top Doctors list for 2013, one of only three New Jersey pediatricians to make the list. Dr. Berkowitz has been with Chestnut Ridge Pediatrics for almost 40 years (since 1976) and is now treating some third generation patients.

Dr. Berkowitz has recently completed a two year study with the American Academy of Pediatrics related to the treatment of obesity in children. This study involved 600 children in twenty practices throughout the United States. The results will be published in the near future. Currently he is working on a study with the American Academy of Family Practice and the Academy of Allergy and Immunology on the use of physician educational tools in the treatment of asthma. Dr. Berkowitz is Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the New York Medical College and was previously director of the Department of Pediatrics at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. He is currently writing a book about his experience as a pediatrician.

Flu Vaccine is Here!

Chestnut Ridge Pediatrics has received our supply of 2013-2014 flu vaccine. As per CDC guidelines, everyone who is at least 6 months of age should get a flu vaccine this season. It’s especially important for some people to get vaccinated, including those with asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease. The flu vaccine is safe and effective. Patients over six months of age can receive injectable flu vaccine (a shot), and most patients over two years of age can receive FluMist (nasal spray). Please call the office to schedule your child's flu vaccine.

Help Us Tackle Hunger This Football Season

Chestnut Ridge Pediatric Associates would like to invite our patients to help us ‘Tackle Hunger"! This year we will be collecting food for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ).

CFBNJ supplies food to programs at over 1,000 non-profit charities in 18 NJ counties. The charities include soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, food banks, after school programs and senior centers. Together this football season we will make a difference!

We are collecting canned fruit (all sizes, all kinds), pasta, potatoes, rice, cereal, shelf stable milk, tuna, salmon, Spam, chicken, ham, mac & cheese, chili, stews, and meaty soups. Please drop off in the office any time between now and November 22. Thanks!

New and Improved Website Coming Soon

We have been working hard at revamping our website and are excited that within the next few weeks we will launch a new and improved www.chestnutridgepediatrics.com.

Some of the new features include great resources for children's health, blog posts, immunization resources, the ability to pay your bill online, and many other features.

Our web address will remain the same! We hope all of the Chestnut Ridge Pediatrics families find the new site easy to use and informative.
