P. Stephen Baenziger, PhD, is Agronomy Professor, Eugene W. Price Distinguished Professor of Small Grains Breeding and Genetics at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Presidential Chair of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association.
Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I was born in Canada, hence I am an immigrant. Sometimes I say I am Canadian by birth, and American by choice and proud of both.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on the next new wheat variety, but also hybrid wheat, winter-malting barley, and winter triticale for forage and grain. I also do a lot of basic research to improve breeding methods and better understand the traits we need to improve crops.
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
The ability to see the future (if I could change it for the better).

Caring, Thinking, Doing
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to be with family and travel, but really, free time? What is that?
What are you most passionate about?
Making sure that when we decide to feed the world that we have the technical capabilities to do so. That is why agriculture rocks!
