Expectation is increasing for the 30th year of Pharaons Rally due to run from October 1st to 6th as the final competition of FIM Cross Country Rally and second to last contest of the FIA World Cup. Little more than two months to go before this major appointment, thirty years on the scene during which the magnificent race in the Egyptian desert has grown up to become the most significant rally after the Dakar.

The track is ready and also in 2012 this is meant to be the strong point of the organization, six legs and 2800 kilometres across the outstanding deserts of Egypt. The Pharaons Rally of this coming October is not a promenade, the length and the endeavour of each single day have to be overcome by pilots one step after the other one, in order to arrive at the magic moment of the finish at the Pyarmids of Giza. A real test, an ambitious piece of history among big races.

The 2012 Pharaons has two set bivouacs – same as last year - a structure quite appreciated by pilots and assistants, so that two of the six legs are loops. Also this year the superfast ship transport is confirmed, thanks to the Grimaldi Lines, official rally shipper that – together with the Team Shipping Agency – will guarantee the vehicles back to Venice Port few days after the Finish of Pharaons Rally. Also from the attendance point of view, the 2012 Pharaons Rally is already confirmed as a great success. More than one hundred teams are registered, one month and a half before the entries closure. Many top contestants and official teams have confirmed their presence in Egypt while finalizing their participation. 

For the time being, the major names among the motorbikes are those of Joan Barreda and Paulo Goncalves, the very tough Team Speedbrain Husqvarna that will find their ideal terrain at the Pharaons race while preparing their next Dakar. Welcome is the “homecoming” of the Norwegian Pal Anders Ullevalseter, winner of the 2004 Pharaons race, who is back in Egypt after few years, and has in his team the companion Francisco Arredondo from Guatemala. Other remarkable names are Franco Picco’s busy ranks of passionate, to continue with the Boano Team that will assist this year a big group of Japanese riders. Also the Danish Jes Munk comes back well fit for the Egyptian sand, as well as the Venezuelan Team with Eraso, Cardona and Querales. More remarkable names are due to join in along the coming weeks in order to launch the challenge in the Egyptian desert for the thirtieth year in a row.

While waiting Jean Louis Schlesser, the winner of the last two editions, among the cars the “parterre” starts to get crowded. Already enrolled are the Toyota Autobody Team, the Cummins Team, the Mebar Team, the Dessoude Team, then Matzker, MD Rallye Sport, Compagnia delle Sabbie, Costel Casuneanu, Paca Raid, 0039 Italia Tout Terrain, Objectif Dunes, as well as the Egyptians Rahhala Racing Team and the Desert Pharaons Racing Team.

Cresce l'attesa per il 30° anno del Pharaons Rally, che dal 1 al 6 ottobre segnerà l'atto conclusivo del Mondiale Cross Country Rally FIM e il penultimo appuntamento della Coppa del Mondo FIA. Poco più di due mesi ci separano da questo importante anniversario, trent’anni nei quali la splendida gara nel deserto egiziano è cresciuta fino a diventare il rally più importante dopo la Dakar.

Tutto è pronto sul fronte del percorso, che anche nel 2012 sarà il fiore all'occhiello degli organizzatori con sei tappe e 2800 chilometri attraversando i luoghi mitici dell'Egitto. Il Pharaons Rally del prossimo ottobre non sarà una passeggiata, la lunghezza e la difficoltà di ogni singola giornata saranno per i piloti un gradino dopo l'altro da superare, per arrivare al magico momento dell'arrivo alle Piramidi di Giza. Una sfida vera, di quelle epiche che hanno fatto la storia dei grandi rally.

Il Pharaons 2012 avrà come lo scorso anno due bivacchi fissi, struttura che si è dimostrata molto apprezzata da piloti e assistenze, quindi due delle sei tappe saranno ad anello. Confermato anche quest'anno il trasporto navale superveloce, grazie al vettore ufficiale del rally Grimaldi Lines che, assieme a Team Shipping Agency, garantirà il ritorno dei mezzi al Porto di Venezia pochi giorni dopo la fine del Pharaons. Le moto, come di consueto, saranno consegnate direttamente all’hotel Moevenpick Cairo Media City, la medesima base logistica dello scorso anno.

Anche sul fronte delle presenze il Pharaons Rally 2012 si conferma un grande successo. A poco più di un mese dalla chiusura delle iscrizioni sono già oltre cento gli equipaggi iscritti. Molti i big e le squadre ufficiali che hanno confermato la loro presenza in Egitto e che nelle prossime settimane formalizzeranno la propria partecipazione.

Per il momento i nomi di spicco nel settore moto sono quelli di Joan Barreda e Paulo Goncalves, i fortissimi piloti del Team Speedbrain Husqvarna che al Pharaons troveranno il terreno ideale per preparare al meglio la prossima Dakar. Gradito ritorno anche per il norvegese Pal Anders Ullevalseter, vincitore del Pharaons 2004, che torna in Egitto dopo qualche anno di assenza e che avrà nel proprio team anche il guatemalteco Francisco Arredondo. Altri nomi degni di nota sono quelli di Franco Picco con la sua folta schiera di appassionati, per continuare con il Team Boano che quest'anno presterà assistenza a un bel gruppo di piloti giapponesi. La pression monte pour ce 30 ème anniversaire du Rallye des Pharaons qui sera la conclusion du Championnat du Monde FIM des rallyes tout terrain et l'avant dernier rendez-vous de la Coupe du Monde FIA. Plus que deux mois avant la course qui marquera le 30 eme anniversaire de l'épreuve: 30 années durant lesquelles Le Pharaon a acquis ses lettres de noblesse pour être aujourd'hui le deuxième plus important rallye raid du monde après le Dakar

Tout est prêt coté parcours, l'organisation a mis un point d'honneur à créer un tracé exceptionnel pour une édition exceptionnelle, avec 6 étapes et 2800 km de course à travers le mythique désert d'Egypte. Ce Pharaon d'Octobre prochain ne sera pas une promenade de santé pour les pilotes et les machines, il faudra enchaîner l'une après l'autre les difficultés et la longueur de chaque étape pour atteindre le moment magique de l'arrivée aux Pyramides de Guiseh. Un véritable défi de ceux qui font l'histoire des grands Rallyes.

Le Pharaon 2012 sera organisé comme l'édition 2011 autour de deux bivouacs fixes, un concept très apprécié par les pilotes et les assistances, avec deux des six étapes en boucle. Le transport des véhicules sera réalisé en bateau express par le transporteur officiel du Rallye "Grimaldi Lines" avec le Team Shipping Agency, ils assureront le retour des véhicules au port de Venise très peu de jours après la fin du Pharaon. Comme d'habitude les motos seront remises dès leur arrivée en Egypte directement à l'hôtel Moevenpick Cairo Media City, même base logistique que l'an passé. Coté participants, ce Pharaon 2012 est un déjà un grand succès, à plus d'un mois de la clôture des inscriptions ce sont déjà plus de cent équipages qui s'aligneront au départ. Des équipes d'usine et les meilleurs pilotes ont confirmé leur présence et certains sont en cours de discussion pour formaliser leur participation.

Parmi les plus connus on trouve Joan Barreda et Paulo Goncalves, les très rapides pilotes du Team Speedbrain Husqvarna qui trouveront sur le Pharaon le terrain idéal pour préparer au mieux le prochain Dakar. Très apprécié est le retour du norvégien Pal Anders Ullevalseter, vainqueur du Pharaon 2004, qui revient en Egypte après quelques années d'absence et du pilote guatémaltèque Francesco Arredondo. Il faut aussi noter la participation de Franco Picco et sa nombreuse équipe de passionnés du team Boano qui fourniront cette année leur assistance à un beau groupe de pilotes japonais.

Le Danois Jes Munk aussi revient dans les sables égyptiens ainsi que le Team vénézuelien avec Eraso, Cardona et Queralès. Beaucoup d'autres pilotes prestigieux viendront ajouter leurs noms dans les prochaines semaines pour ce défi du 30 ème anniversaire.
