Chapter Update
Delta Lambda returned to school in January boasting 217 active Brothers, and is looking forward to spring rush. As of this publishing, 2013 Rush Chairman Andrew Slechta ‘11 has already booked 12 new spring pledge commitments, and rush does not officially begin until January 21st!
Delta Lambda has been designated by the University as “Fraternity of the Year” for the last two years, and the Chapter’s new executive officers are dedicated to maintain the highest standards in academics, leadership and athletics.
On campus, Brother Dallas Sheinberg ’11 was named Anchorman, Man of the Year for the Delta Gamma sorority. Sheinberg has also been slated by the Ignite Party for Greek Relations Chairman. Dan Nedresky ’11 is slated to become President of the Aspiring Medical Professionals. Both Taylor Device ’12 and Andrew Slecta were awarded Interfraternity Council Scholarship.

Young Alumnus of the Month: Phil Doumar
Nominated by new Chapter Advisor Jimmy Keen '73, December graduate Phil Doumar '09 distinguished himself in the classroom, on the field and as an iconic leader of Delta Lambda Chapter. A scholarship varsity football letterman, Phil was the long snapper for the 2014 National Champions, and as Delta Lambda Rush Chairman in 2012 he was instrumental in recruiting the entire FSU kicking team into the Fraternity. As a student-athlete, Phil was named to the ACC Academic-Athletic Honor Roll all four years, and in 2013 he was selected as the First Team All-American Long Snapper by the North American Inter-Fraternity Conference.
"Attending Florida State University has been a lifelong dream that I have had ever since my parents took me to my first football game," says Phil. "Since arriving on campus in the summer of 2009 I have grown as both a person and student. My four years as an active Brother in Pike includes one year as Delta Lambda Rush Chairman. That Fraternal experience along with my four years on the Seminole football team has helped prepare me for the next step in my life. It is one that I am prepared and excited to take."
Chapter Brother of the Month: Andrew Slechta
Nominated by new SMC Joe Vance '11, Delta Lambda Rush Chairman Andrew Slechta '11 has been selected as the January, 2014 Undergraduate Pike of the Month. Andrew is majoring in Finance & Accounting; he interned with Edward Jones in the summer and again in the fall. Together with a team of three other Delta Lambdas, Andrew won the FSU Price-Waterhouse-Cooper Tax Case Competition against 100 other competitors.
Raised in a military family, Andrew came to Tallahassee from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He arrived at FSU on an ROTC Scholarship, but later, he says, "I tore my ACL, and after that I decided to devote myself to my studies and to the Fraternity."
Andrew is now the inheritor of the long and illustrious tradition of Delta Lambda rush chairmen. Rush Week does not officially begin until January 21st , but Andrew has already signed 12 new pledges for the spring!
FSU Pikes Lead the Way to the National Championship
Eleven undergraduate Delta Lambda Brothers helped spark the historic win over Auburn in the Rose Bowl on January 6th. This 2013 Seminole team set all-time NCAA scoring records and won more games than any other team in Seminole history.
After this spring's NFL Draft, there’s no doubt that Brothers Terence Brooks, James Wilder, Jr and Christian Jones will join Delta Lambda alumni E.J.Manuel ’11 (Bills), Kyle Long ’08 (Bears), Nick Moody (49ers)'10 and Lonnie Pryor '09 (Bucs) in the National Football League.
In addition to the undergraduates, Seminole Head Coach Jimbo Fisher '10 and Offensive Line Coach Rick Trickett '10 represented the Fraternity in Pasadena.

Note from Doug Russell '79: “Debbie and I hosted Tyler and four of his Delta Lambda brothers. We stayed with all our Seminole friends at the designated Booster Resort, Pelican Hill in Newport Beach. Because we had 5 young men, we rented a villa. It was beautiful!!! But, needless to say, because we had a villa (over just a room) we hosted the fraternity party each night. There were also an additional 12 to 15 Pikes at the resort and about 15 to 20 Kappa Deltas (oh darn). We easily had 20 folks in our villa each night. They were beautifully tame and well behaved, but darn, they don’t go home until 2:00am. Happy New Year, Go Noles! & Go Pikes!”
