“A breath - centered practice of yoga, this is the most subtle and powerful yoga I've ever taken. I walked into my first class with Carla with a lot of neck & shoulder pain and walked out feeling like I'd just been to my chiropractor. I leave feeling transformed both physically and mentally.  Carla manages to blend her gift for color and imagery with her clear instructions in a way that puts me in a meditative state.” PIANO TEACHER

Carla Mattioli has been a yogi for 30 years. Her range of expertize includes yoga from different traditions, dance, eurythmy, Alexander Technique and Buddhist mindfulness meditation. She is certified in the Krishnamacharya lineage of yoga, which offers a breath-centered practice and values adapting yoga to the individual needs of every student. Carla is also an Art Therapist and ordained as an Interfaith Minister from the New Seminary Center for Interfaith Studies.

Please join Carla for a gentle and invigorating practice that transforms you on every level. The class offers safe, effective and simple yoga sequences and breath exercises. We move smoothly and slowly with our breath, strengthening and re-vitalizing the entire body, focusing and quieting the mind, opening the heart to the present moment. Poses and sequences will be adapted to meet the needs of individuals in the class. You may practice seated on a chair or bring a yoga mat and blanket to practice on.

Healing By Narrative - Story Telling at Zanjabee

So much of human illness, both mental and physical is related to the stories we tell ourselves about our own lives. People can heal by retelling their stories. Zanjabee is starting a monthly story telling hour where patients and their friends/family can get together to share a story from their lives that was ground breaking, a watershed experience or just plain funny. Here is how:
If you want to tell a story:

1. Send us an email to ask@zanjabee.com with a short paragraph about what you want to say.
2. Stories must be from your life experience and true.
3. No notes, just you telling your story in your own words in about 10 minutes.
4. What is said at Zanjabee, stays at Zanjabee.
5. Identify yourself to your audience according to your comfort level. Disclose your first name or no name, depending on what works for you.

If you want to attend:
1. Drop us an email letting us know that you will be coming.
2. Bring a friend or family member and arrive promptly at 6pm.
3. We will have tea. Feel free to bring food for yourself that you can eat quietly.
