A Confirmation Class (for young adults) will begin in October. Parents should contact Fr. Patterson if they have a young adult to enroll. This class begins with an overview of the "story" of the Bible and then moves on to a study of the Catechism (as found in the 1928 BCP) with a special emphasis upon understanding the Lord's Prayer, The 10 Commandments and the Apostle's Creed. Young Adults must complete this class prior to Confirmation.
An Adult Inquirer's/New Members Class - will also be forming this fall. This class is open to any adult (or young adult) in the parish. This is a required class for any adult who wishes to seek Confirmation (which will take place sometime in the spring) and it is highly recommended for any adult who (already having been Confirmed) is interested in joining St. Marks Church.
In the adult class instruction will be offered on:
▪ the history of the Book of Common Prayer (where did it come from?) and how to make use of it.
▪ The logic and order of Cranmer's service of Holy Communion
▪ An Anglican theology of Worship
▪ "Why do you do that?" (answers to commonly asked questions about our customs and traditions)
▪ The Mission, Vision and Values of St. Mark's Church
▪ A brief overview of the Reformed Episcopal Church and comments upon the state of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
▪ And more . . . .
Exact dates/times for both classes TBD based on the needs/schedule of participants. If you are interested in attending, please contact Fr. Patterson (jsspatterson@gmail.com).
