Route 67 (Bellevue/Mansions/Salve Regina) trolley service will operate on a detour on Sunday, May 18, 2014 to accommodate Salve Regina University’s Commencement Ceremony. Details here.

RIPTA CELEBRATES MEMORIAL DAY, MONDAY, MAY 26

RIPTA will operate all regular fixed-route bus service on a Sunday/Holiday schedule Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. RIPTA offices, including the Photo Identification and Ticket Sales Offices in Kennedy Plaza, will not be staffed on Memorial Day. Also, the Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) and the RIde reservation line (461-9760) will not be staffed on the holiday. Click here for details.

HOPE STREET SPRING BLOCK PARTY – SATURDAY, MAY 31

RIPTA will detour Route 42 (Hope Street) to accommodate the Hope Street Merchants Association Festival from 11:00am until 7:00pm that day. Details here.

DAY OF PORTUGAL PARADE – SUNDAY, JUNE 8

RIPTA will detour twenty bus routes in the Providence area to accommodate the Day of Portugal Parade. The East Approach Trolley Pavilion will be closed to traffic on Sunday, June 8, 2014; routes 6 and 92 will be detoured all day and night. Routes 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 50, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 72, 78, and 99 will be detoured beginning at 2:30pm until 3:30pm. Details here.

With the onset of the warmer weather, we urge Rhode Islanders to be aware of the increased risk of ground-level ozone and fine particle pollution, and take precautions when smog levels are high. Air Quality forecasts are issued daily by RIDEM-Air Resources and can be found on Twitter @RhodeIslandDEM.

Poor air quality affects everyone, but some people are particularly sensitive to air pollutants, including children and adults. When Air Quality is predicted to be unhealthy, RIDEM and EPA will announce an air quality alerts.

National Bike to Work Day is observed on May 16, 2014. Bike to Work Day is an annual event across the United States and Canada that promotes the bicycle as an option for commuting to work.
