June means Summer is Over (or is it?); and LOTS of new episodes of the (free!) humor podcast are posted!

Hi everyone!

Well, it's June, and that means Summer might as well be over. At least that's how it feels sometimes. But in my June humor column in the Chesterfield Observer I explain why it feels like the Summer is flying by, and how to make it last.

Also, Hamilton Holloway and I now have NINE episodes of our Constant Crisis News & Opinion podcast which you can listen to (did I mention for free?) on your computer or smart phone. Constant Crisis News & Opinion is a funny weekly look at a world that has totally lost its mind, and a refuge of humor, perspective and sanity for our listeners. Please take a listen - we think you'll like it!

Thanks and HAPPY SUMMER!

Chuck

It's Earlier than you Think

An excerpt from my column this month:

Today is June 13, meaning that summer might as well be over.

Oh, sure, the kids will be in school for a few more days, watching videos and playing board games and doing all the other things they do once the SOLs are finished.

And, yes, technically summer actually doesn’t even begin until June 21, or June 22, or June 20. Whatever. Really, the date summer starts is irrelevant, because it’s essentially over before it begins.

In about the time it takes to read this column, July 4 will have come and gone, with anticlimactic neighborhood fireworks and the unsettling realization that a holiday that used to occur in the middle of summer now seems to kick the season off.

It’s not literally true, but it sure feels that way.

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT THIS?? Find out in my June Chesterfield Observer column

Speaking News

Thanks IAAP-MD-DE-DC Division!
Thank you very much to the Maryland-Delaware-DC Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals for the warm welcome you gave me in Columbia, Md. on June 8. It was a LOT of fun.

Coming up:
June 30 - The Virginia/West Virginia Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals - Lynchburg, Va.

August 24 - International Assocaition of Meeting Planners Conference - Richmond, Va.

If the folks in your organization, company or association are grappling with the craziness of this world, maybe I can help.
In my speaking, I provide organizations and their people with strategies for sanity in this world gone nuts. With lots of humor, high energy and fun, I cover topics such as:

Keeping Balance & Perspective Amidst (Hurricane-Strength) Winds of Change – Chuck taps his own wide variety of hilarious business and life experiences and misadventures, as well as the wisdom of Henry David Thoreau, to present a funny take on dealing with change and keeping one’s balance and perspective amidst planetary insanity.

E Pluribus Humor: Diversity, Community and Getting the Best Solutions – Chuck Hansen (disclaimer: no Latin scholar) uses hilarious insights and anecdotes from his “diverse” career and life experiences to demonstrate the fact that true diversity connects communities in a common cause to arrive at the best solutions. With humor and positivity, Chuck explores how conformity in thinking, uniformity of background and “conventional wisdom” combine to limit the ability of organizations and individuals to innovate and succeed.

Living and Leaving the Caribbean Dream: Surprising Truths about Setting Goals – Chuck samples from his several lifetimes’ worth of wildly varied and often humorous experiences – from crossing the Atlantic in a small sailboat, to Caribbean saloon bouncer, to speechwriter for national political figures and Fortune 500 company leaders, to blackjack dealer, donut maker and private detective – to present some surprising truths about setting and achieving goals.

For more information, go to my web page, drop me an email (chuck@chuckhansen.com) or call me (804-240-7743). I would be grateful if you’d pass my information along to friends or colleagues who might need some energizing and perspective! Thanks!
