NOVEMBER, 2012
Thanksgiving has come and gone and we've eaten our fair share of turkey and sweet potatoes, and yet, it feels like the "holidays" have just begun! Liz is busy creating a new Hanukkah latke recipe (you'll have to wait a few weeks for that one), and Janice is planning to make a new recipe for butter-less Almond-Apricot Snowballs for her annual neighborhood cookie swap. But you'll have to wait for that one too!
Okay, now that we've dangled a few carrots, we'd better toss some exciting news and recipes your way. So here goes ...
Our Cookbook: If you missed Cyber Monday and are looking for a gift for yourself or a special friend or relative, it's not too late to order an autographed copy of our cookbook, No Whine with Dinner. We're offering the book at a discount --- 30% off single copies and 40% off cases of 10 --- and the shipping is free if you use the code, FS2011 (U.S. only). Send us an email if you'd like us to personalize your copy!
A New Partnership: We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the health and well-being company, HumanaVitality. Together, we've cooked up over a dozen new "makeover" recipes that families everywhere will love. To see some of the new recipes including Cinnamon Oatmeal Pecan Cookies, Roasted Carrot Hummus, and Asian Meatball Lettuce Wraps, visit the Humana Vitality Tumbler page. And stay tuned for more recipes and cooking videos coming your way soon.
Facebook ... What Were You Thinking?: Facebook now wants us (and plenty of other folks) to pay for our posts to appear in the news feeds of our fans. Otherwise only about 10% of our fans will see what we share. Imagine that. We're a small business, so unfortunately, that's not an option for us. If you'd like to continue seeing our regular updates, all you have to do is visit our Facebook fan page, hover your mouse over the "Liked" button located near the top of the page and make sure "Get Notifications" and "Show in News Feed" are checked. It's that easy :)
Turkey Talk: Leftover Thanksgiving turkey gets the royal treatment in our Turkey Wild Rice Casserole. The wild rice -- a whole grain, thank you very much -- adds a nice chewy texture to the dish, and the casserole includes some of our favorite veggies: carrots, mushrooms, and onions. While we're on the subject of Thanksgiving, we also cooked up a better-for-you green bean casserole. Check out our recipe for Green Bean & Wild Mushroom Casserole.
Crazy Over Quinoa: We had two quinoa recipes on the blog this month: Greek Quinoa Salad with Feta and Dill and Almond Cranberry Quinoa Bowl. And if you have ever struggled to achieve fluffy vs. mushy quinoa, you'll love our QUINOA COOKING GUIDE!
That's all for now. We hope we dangled enough carrots. We'll be back in touch in a few weeks with brand new, holiday-inspired recipes. And don't forget to visit our blog often if you can't wait until our next newsletter hits your inbox.
