Our Hearts

We find that it is hard for most people to view Europe as a mission field and I understand why. Most of our friends come here on vacation. We take them to some of the most beautiful places. The fashion is far ahead of the US. In Western Europe people are rich and the government takes care of most of their needs (medical, schooling etc.). So from the surface you don’t see much need and therefore can have a difficult time seeing it as a priority in missions. However, this is just the surface and appearances can be deceiving.

Underneath the surface:
There are 84 million people in Europe living beneath the poverty line.

But there is an even greater need that lies beneath the surface. Europeans are being starved, not just physically, but certainly spiritually. Europe has the lowest % of Evangelical Christians of any other continent. If you were to take out the beautiful churches and Christian architecture you would not see a Christian influence anywhere.

Director's Retreat

Encourage one another.

Hebrews 10:19-25
“So, friends, we can now-without hesitation-walk right up to God, into “the Holy Place.” Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God. The “curtain” into God’s presence is his body.

So let’s do it-full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Lets keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.”

As we have seen discipleship develop in Europe there is something we’ve been a part of that has been key. Like the last part of these verses talks about encouraging each other, worshipping together and spurring each other on, we have found this to be vital for our directors and programs to practice with each other.

What else has happened?

Derry, Northern Ireland
COHEU sponsored it's largest ever event which was held in Derry, Northern Ireland. The event was hosted by Brian Somerville, pastor of Cornerstone City Church. This church also runs one of our Master's Commission programs, who was also heavily involved with this week long outreach to the city. There were several events each day, including a HUGE children's outreach. Each evening we held concerts with well known Christian artists. We also built a play ground for a popular but financially poor children's nursery. They estimate that over 20,000 people were ministered to.

Lorca, Spain
Nolan traveled to Lorca, Spain and met with leaders to discuss how COHEU can help in bringing relief to those who suffered in the massive earthquake that took place there this past May.

What is coming up?

Director's Retreat in Rome, Italy.
Trip to Belfast, Ireland to recruit help for COHEU.
We will be traveling back to Tirana, Albania to continue our help to the community there.

Please pray for us as we go to these places!

Financial Update

October through December we will be traveling in the US sharing our heart for Europe. We are so excited to visit with many of you. Please be praying for divine appointments as we take this step of faith. As our ministry is growing here we are also needing a bigger support base in prayer and finances.

Our goal is to raise:

An additional $2,000 in monthly commitments.

$25,000 in cash for a yearly budget.

Please pray and ask God how you can be a part of reaching this starving continent.

All our love,
The Tarantinos
