Hi ,
Hello from China in the Spring. Last week I was telling you about one of my favorite gift shops in Shanghai, you can read it here.
This week I have been looking for Halloween and Christmas gifts in Yiwu, where we have an office and warehouse.
Not easy getting in the festive mood, when everything is green and blooming for spring. This weekend is "Visit Your Ancestors" weekend in China. Known as the Qingming Festival, or Grave Sweeping Day.
It's a spring family day out, you go for a picnic on the mountain graveyard. Clean the graves of your dear departed and perhaps burn some fake money for them to use on the other side. Rather poetically this also known as a good day to start a new romance. Kind of celebrating the circle of life.
Talking about the circle of life, I seem to be working ahead of the curve buying stock in China, Indonesia or India ready for months ahead when it will hit British shores. Today I have been working on some new Christmas stock and trying to get into a gothic frame of mind for halloween.
Helpful as ever our agent in Yiwu, Mark; this week has been trying out some horror masks.
