"Kangaroo Care" Study Shows Potency of Parental Touch Ten Years Down the Road
"At age 10, the children who had received maternal contact as infants slept better, showed better hormonal response to stress, had a more mature functioning of their nervous system and displayed better thinking skills."
This from recently-released findings on a long-term study of "Kangaroo Care" - skin-t0-skin parental contact for babies born prematurely (this study looked at moms, but dads are equally-potent providers for this vital nurturing touch!).
Researchers also confirmed: "Physical contact with babies is essential for their physical and psychological development"... something moms and dads have intuitively understood since the dawn of time. What an incredible reminder of your innate parenting power!
