AMENDED NOTICE

The following notice was amended to include two additional items. GrowNYC and the Barclays Center have been invited, but have not confirmed, to present to the transportation committee a proposal to operate a farmers market outside the arena. An additional Certificate of Appropriateness application, for 170 Joralemon Street, has been added to the Land Use Committee agenda.

CB2 Committee Meetings, June 17-19, 2013

Community Board 2 (CB2) will hold the following three committee meetings next week, all of which are scheduled for 6:00 pm. All committee meetings of Community Board 2 begin with the approval of the agenda and introduction of the committee officers. The meetings conclude with the approval of the previous month's meeting minutes, a chairperson’s report, other business and a community forum during which the public may speak.

In addition to the items listed below, the Land Use Committee will hold a public hearing on the Flood Resilience Text Amendment (Application #N130331ZRY) drafted by the Department of City Planning.

Parks and Recreation Committee

Monday, June 17, 2013; Dining Rooms A&B, Brooklyn Hospital, 121 DeKalb Avenue at St. Felix Street, in Fort Greene

Marty Maher, Brooklyn chief of staff for the Department of Parks and Recreation, will provide an update on capital projects in Community District 2.

In addition, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation will present the design for the outer two-thirds of Pier 6. The presentation is made for CB2 recommendation to the Public Design Commission.

Transportation and Public Committee

Tuesday, June 18, 2013; First Floor Board Room, St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street (between Clinton and Court streets), in Brooklyn Heights

Kenneth K. Fisher, Esq., a member of Cozen O'Connor, and William Kenworthey, a partner at Cooper, Robertson & Partners, will present the design of a proposed expansion of Long Island University's playing field at the southwest corner of Ashland Place and Willoughby Street. The presentation is made for CB2 recommendation to the Public Design Commission and the Department of Transportation.

It is currently anticipated that the land use applications associated with this project will be referred out by the Department of City Planning on July 8, 2013. A public hearing on the applications will be scheduled for a later date.

Isaac Esterman, a project manager with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, will present the organization's "Street Seats" application for on-street seating on Bond Street, between Livingston and Fulton Streets.

GrowNYC and the Barclays Center will present (invited, not confirmed) a proposal to operate a farmers market outside of the arena. Under the plan provided, the vendors would be located on the north side of Flatbush Avenue, between Atlantic and Pacific Street. Vendor vehicles would be parked in the lay-by lane on the north side of street.

The committee will also discuss legislation regarding sidewalk cafés currently in committee at the City Council. Intro. 875 proposes to allow sidewalk cafés to open and operate on Sundays starting at 10:00 am. The current law prohibits sidewalk cafés from operating before noon on Sundays. Intro. 1039 proposes to reduce the time community boards have to review sidewalk café licenses from 45 days to 30.

Land Use Committee

Wednesday, June 19, 2013; Room LC400, Dibner Building, Polytechnic Institute, 5 MetroTech Center (off of the MetroTech Commons), in Downtown Brooklyn

Following a public hearing to be held prior to the committee meeting, the committee will discuss and potentially make a recommendation on the Flood Resilience Zoning Text Amendment drafted by the Department of City Planning.

The committee will also review the following Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) Certificate of Appropriateness applications:

85 Remsen Place — Brooklyn Heights Historic District — Application is to renovate the front and rear façades, including replacement of the windows and door, and construction of a second story above the existing rear yard extension.
98 Fort Greene Place — Brooklyn Academy of Music Historic District — Application is to repair and recreate the cornice, replace the second and fourth story front façade windows, while enlarging the openings, and repair and waterproof the entry planter.
32 Middagh Street — Brooklyn Heights Historic District — Application is to restore the Greek Revival façade, including modification of the window openings and front door surround.
102 Gates Avenue — Clinton Hill Historic District — Application is to repair the front and rear facades, including new wood windows, and construct a new full-width, six-foot deep steel deck and stairs to the rear yard.
71 Joralemon Street — Brooklyn Heights Historic District — Application is to legalize windows installed in non-compliance, with the addition of a wood brickmold, and to install the windows and wood brickmold at the parlor floor.
170 Joralemon Street — Brooklyn Heights Historic District — Application is to construct a new bulkhead at the front stair tower.
