Coinciding with our 5-year anniversary Latitudes is collaborating with Archive Books (Turin/Berlin) in preparing a small publication gathering documentation from a selection of projects produced since 2005 (release date TBA).
The festival coincides with Tate Modern's 10th Anniversary
Following the first edition of NO SOUL FOR SALE in June 2009 in New York, Latitudes will produce a further specially-commissioned collaboration with artist Martí Anson (b. Mataró, Spain, 1967). In response to the invitation and need to travel to London, Anson has proposed to set up a taxi firm, and drive Latitudes from Barcelona [41º 23’N, 2º 11’E] to London [51°30′29″N 0°7′29″W] and back.
Legally registering his employment as a chauffeur, designing the livery of the single vehicle fleet and his uniform, and the journey to Tate Modern and back (including the ferry journey from Bilbao to Portsmouth) all form a part of the project. The car itself will form the basis of Latitudes’ temporary office-encampment in the Tate Modern Turbine Hall, which will be parked up for the weekend alongside a ‘typically Spanish’ taxi-drivers’ picnic scenario of camping chairs, table, cool box and parasol. + info...

'Under Construction' text on Lara Almarcegui, Mousse Magazine #23, April–May 2010
"Almarcegui’s art is preoccupied by the physical matter of civilisation – the bricks and mortar of buildings and cities, understood as the uppermost layer of the Earth’s crust. It is also intuitively concerned with its flip-side – the social processes which glue and unstick, cohere and transform the built environment and public space."
Mousse is a bimonthly Milan-based magazine published since 2006 in Italian and English. + info...

'The Last Newspaper', New Museum, New York, October 2010–January 2011
Conceived in response to pronouncements of the daily newspaper’s demise as a tangible record of events, 'The Last Newspaper' is a hybrid exhibition which investigates what is possibly lost and what might be gained in a world where an avalanche of interpretation compromises the increasingly vulnerable privileging of facts.
A tabloid, assembled and produced on site by Latitudes, will provide a regularly published record of the enterprise. 'The Last Post' (working title) will be produced during 12 weeks from a live 'editorial situation' in-house at the New Museum. 'The Last Post' will be an ‘old-fashioned’ episodic print publication rethought in the light of the fundamental shifts taking place in news production and distribution, while exploring the shared behaviours of ‘the editorial’ and ‘the curatorial’. + info...
