Welcome to the VERY FIRST edition of the Desert Cove PTO eNews of the 2014 - 2015 School Year!

The Weekly eNews is your PRIMARY SOURCE OF INFORMATION for the happenings at Desert Cove Elementary. We plan on sending out the eNews at the beginning of every week, so that you have a source to rely on for what is important for the week and coming up soon.


PLEASE NOTE: Any links that are included in the eNews have been verified for safety, and Mr. Lanese reads every edition before it is emailed out to DC Families. We are looking forward to another AWESOME year!

Why you WANT to Receive the Weekly eNews :)

▪ Helps Us "Go Green" and Send Less Paper Home

A couple of years ago, we revamped the eNews in an effort to send less paper home. However, we noticed that less than half of DC families were subscribed to the eNews, and were missing valuable information, so we began sending flyers home again. This year, in partnership with the Principal, both Mr. Lanese and the PTO will PRIMARILY COMMUNICATE ONLINE. Minimal flyers will go home in folders, and will instead be available in the front office along the wall.

▪ Keeps You Up-To-Date on Desert Cove Events

Ever have that moment where your child springs on you that there is an event at the school tonight that you are just hearing? Want to know what the topic of the next United Parent Council Meeting is? Or when the DCES 50th Anniversary Celebration, Muffins with Mom, or Donuts with Dad is this year? Even if you only read the eNews for the UPCOMING EVENTS section, that will definitely be valuable as you are planning your calendar for the month.

▪ Know all the Ways to Support Desert Cove

We communicate all of our upcoming fundraisers and ways to support the school through the eNews. We will only do ONE major fundraiser this year, the Apex Fun Run. If your child was a student at Desert Cove last year, they know how AWESOME that was! And it was an AMAZING fundraiser for the school! We also communicate information about our many Shopping Programs that fit into EVERY families' current shopping habits. Click here to learn more about our Shopping Programs!

▪ Informs You of Help That is Needed

Volunteer Opportunities for Events are communicated via the eNews, as well as Donation Needs for things such as Teacher Appreciation Luncheons. We try and provide ways for ALL families to participate in their child's experience at Desert Cove, whether it's volunteering time or bringing a box of cookies.

This year, our Desert Cove logowear is a very special 50th Anniversary T-shirt. Due to the PTO's fundraising efforts, the t-shirts will be selling for only $2.00 to Desert Cove students and $5.00 for Desert Cove parents!

Look for your order form in your child's yellow folder. Or pick one up from the PTO table on Curriculum Night.
